MemberWell i tried logging on AIM 6.0 with my main sn, chenggyboy, and it said “a server error occured”, so i tried again and just got this website and aim just went back to the logon screen without doing anything:
I kept on trying and it never worked. BUT, when i try any other sn it works. Also i tried on AIM 5.9 on the sn ChenggyBoy, and it worked with the same password! But i like 6.0 so can anyone help me? Also i tried logging in on aim today, aim mail, and aim express and it just sends me to the password reset but when i type in the right things it says its wrong so can anyone help me?
I also tried it on other computers and it didn’t work

MemberI say give it a few days and try again. Weird problems like this often happen and work in some cases, but not others…I say give it a bit of time and see if it gets cleared up.

MemberI’m not sure, so I don’t want to say yes or no. Do you, or have you ever, used the “save password” feature with that screen name on 6.0? I know you said you tried other computers and it was a no-go, but could you have saved the password on those computers before?
For now, all I can think of is that maybe it’s sending over an incorrectly-hashed password, since they aren’t sent as plain text over the ‘net when you login.
First, exit AIM by right-clicking on the icon and clicking on “exit” or clicking on the buddylist on file>exit. If you only sign off and don’t exit the program, then registry modifications won’t stick. You can go to start>run>regedit and hit enter. Browse your way to here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAIM6Passwords
and right-click on the account with the problem and delete it. That will remove the stored password, and you can enter it again when you sign on.February 13, 2007 at 9:55 pm #157487VanillaChimmy
MemberI’m currently getting the “server error” when trying to sign into AIM 6.0 with any of my screen names. I can’t get on AIM via AIM Express either. No network changes have been made on my side. I upgraded to Vista a few days ago, but for the past few days, it’s been fine. This error only started today.

MemberI ran into the exact same problem around the same time that you did. Hopefully this means that it isn’t a problem on our end.

MemberI have been getting this error since about 4:00 CST. Are all of us running Vista? I know I am as well as Vanilla… are you Mike? If so it might be a problem with AIM on Vista… even though my AIM has been working with Vista excluding just now.
Any tips?

MemberYeah, I’m running Vista too, and I’m in the same boat: it was working just fine until about 4:00PM CST today.
