Whenever I open a new IM window in yahoo messenger, unless i type really quickly, a funky message is entered and sent to the person I am Im’ing without me doining anything. Whatever I was typing is overwritten. The messages have been like this:
hey, check this out ###.###.###.####
haha, ###.###.###.####
this is funny: ###.###.###.####
The ### is my IP address! The person never sees that part though. All they get is the text. It is very frustrating when trying to IM. I have removed and reinstalled YM, but it still happens, evrytime. Has anyone experianced this, and know what I am talking about? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
jeff
… it sounds Trojan-like ( Back-Orifice, et. al. ), but
I would not discount someone “causing” you to change a registry entry.
( actually – the two are intimately related )
Do you know ( or can you find out ) how to examine the registry?
If not … any friends who can?
Let us know –
I don’t believe uninstalling is without “residue” for most apps.
( you might just have a little “boogie” left at the end of it all )
😀
There are a number of free trojan scanners out there, I just used on yesterday called trojan scan. YOu can find them through any search engine. After all this Yahoo weirdness lately I thought maybe I had one, but my search came up with nothing.
I hope this isn’t another new Yahoo glitch! 😮
