We’re going to give it a test run and see what kind of interest this generates. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll fold the discussions into the “Other IM Applications” forum.
IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, predates all instant messengers. And it’s still widely used.
Curious? Post on!!

Thank you for test run
The IRC was my very first exposure to the Internet.
At the time, there were only three major networks that were linked together :
DALNet, EFNet and UnderNet
Now there are literally hundreds of IRC networks out there.
OH for you MP3 fans, its the perfered avenue to increase your MP3 collection. I think, everyone was doing that long before Napster came around.
IRC users are revolting.
And well they should, how long do we stand out in the cold n get ignored?
OK, so maybe a little while longer…….. we can take it.

IRC has been notorious for not being user friendly especially towards the ‘point n click’ generation. Although the creator of mIRC has attempted in many different ways to bridge the gap between UNIX wizards not so UNIX wizards.
It takes time, like they say “Rome wasn’t built in a day” (just how long did it take? anyone know?), its all a envolving process, pretty soon you’ll ask yourself, how come I didn’t join the IRC revolution sooner?
