MemberSarah your crazy 😛
It is unfortunate that people do some of the things they do. I have to say I don’t know the full story but from what I have read Jeff has done a professional and commendable job on dealing with the situation.

KeymasterThank you Jeff for all the hard work you did and always do. YOU ROCK. Not trying to lick or kiss anything but it’s the dog gone truth! Yep!
BBB being gone like that was just as bad as the time Google wasn’t working. Now I have to go get therapy again.

I think this whole situation just shows that BBB is now in good, professional hands, and most definately has a very bright future. Well done Jeff.

KeymasterThanks everyone for your support. I am maybe too trusting at times. It’s been a stressful day, but the weekend is around the corner! And very likely a nice, cold beverage (or two!).
On top of the database being deleted this morning, I found a tick on my labrador (gross!), and had the following random conversation with someone on AIM:
Quote:demonstrate: he7demonstrate: hey*
JHester00: hey
demonstrate: you owner of bigblueballs?
demonstrate: ?
JHester00: yes
JHester00: there is no s
JHester00: but yes
JHester00: why?
demonstrate: aha then you were ****in with my negro, smurf, that site= going down + your name =susp
demonstrate: 😀
demonstrate: have a nice day!
JHester00: what are you talking about?
demonstrate: and smurf says
demonstrate: you can suck his big blue balls
demonstrate: 😉
JHester00: I haven’t been ****ing with smurf
(I was not in the mood to be polite at this point)demonstrate: you lie
JHester00: no, i do not
JHester00: but whatever
demonstrate: deadlyprogramming
JHester00: what about it?
demonstrate: he’s the head
demonstrate: you insluit our site you insult him!
JHester00: yes I know
JHester00: what are you talking about?
JHester00: where did i insult deadaim?
JHester00: show me
JHester00: excuse me… deadlyprogramming
demonstrate: I MEAN big blue balls=going down
demonstrate: and
demonstrate: jhester00=suspended
demonstrate: in
demonstrate: a few days
demonstrate: haha
demonstrate: have a nice day
demonstrate: btw that name sucks ass
JHester00: excuse me, but you are mistaken
JHester00: talk to smurf
demonstrate: how
JHester00: he posts at bigblueball regularly
demonstrate: well he’s my nergo
demonstrate: NEGRO
demonstrate: my nigga
demonstrate: homeslice
demonstrate: home g
JHester00: that’s fine… all I’m saying is that I have no beef with deadaimprogramming
demonstrate: ok good
JHester00: https://bigblueball.com/forums/member.php?u=56119
demonstrate: just checkin
JHester00: there’s his profile
demonstrate: I know
demonstrate: but
JHester00: there is no but
demonstrate: oh tuff guy?
JHester00: whatever
demonstrate: I like those sexy numbers
At this point, I blocked demonstrate.
For what it’s worth smurf is the guy who runs http://www.deadlyprogramming.com, and someone from that site hacked my son’s site (http://www.mybuddyicons.com) a few months ago. I made a desparaging comment about their site being run by wanna-be script kiddies a month or so ago (they didn’t like that). Smurf called his “homies” to do whatever they could to attack BigBlueBall. I discussed with him, agreed to take my comments off the site and he agreed to the same on his, but at least one person apparently didn’t get the memo.
I’m not worried about them… there are always a few crazies out there looking for trouble. But it was such a nice conversation, especially after spending 1-1/2 hours working on restoring the database.
Now where is that cold drink?

Memberhere we go Jeff – ice, lemon and a tall glass… bit of gin and just the right amount of tonic! :0)
June 3, 2005 at 10:23 pm #123196ToeBee
MemberI think you definitely need two cold beverages after a convo like that. Sounds like he/she has had two to many…

MemberI’ve been around guys like that; who make talk like “im going to hack your screename” or “im going to suspend your screename”. The truth is though, they have no idea what they are doing. They think they can make all these threats and then go to a REAL programmer and expect him to carry the threats out. But from what I’ve see, the programmer, being much more wise, understands that these threats are impossible, and just tells them to screw off.
I too agree that your doing a good job with the site. Considering the fact that this is not a business with offices and such, the amount of speed and efficiency you use to get things working again is top notch.

MemberIt just goes to show, when it rains it pours. It’s darkest before the dawn and now BBB can carry on and be a positive fun place to be! 🙂
