Memberthe only thing you can do is check his profile… if he has entered any info then you can get it from ther… also it will be better if you directly ask him about this…

Membernot true. my step-mom has had the same problem. this guy added ehr to his contact list and then started talking to her. they were taling about ishing and what not and then he started describing her. he told her exactly where she lived, and her phone number. later that day she noticed that when she checked her own profile it had her address and phone wrote in the hobbies and intrests section.
i have taken it into personal effect to figure out whats goin on. simply put. these people are hacking into other peoples accounts and looking into their personal information. and no its not ahrd for someone to hack into your hotmail account. you read articles where hotmail has had previous problems with such topics and they say they fixed the security and upgraded everything. well i can personally tell you their lying ^.^. they have it so you can try and sign in as many dang tiems as you want. perfect setting for brute force to come into play. and if you want to do it a lil harder. go to forgotten password if you know their zip code, (which this is not msn’s fault here. its way to easy to trick people into giving you tehir zip codes.), type in their email and state and zip, then have fun guessing their secret answer.
oh and a lil tip here. don’t let teh answer amtch teh topic. if you want teh secret question to be pet’s name, put numbers or a favorite food.anyhow i check these things to see how easy they are to fool around with ^.^
but thats how they are doing it. they just check your personal info. oh and if you didn’t put that info in, all they have to get is your rl name which most people use in their profiles as tehy make them. i can get your real name and run it through a security checker and get every detail down to your bra size ^.^September 9, 2003 at 11:30 am #55947coolguyj2
Memberwell broku, you are right to a much larger extent except for the brute force… well brute force is a technque which is used for generating and cracking passwords… it was a very effective methid but to be true now it is useless to a much larger extent… this is because now-a-days all the major mail services have a limit for typing wrong passwords continuously… they take this as an attempt for getting into other ppl’s account and lock the particular account for some time… using brute force tech will always lead to this until and unless you have a year for that…
nways thanx for the info…September 9, 2003 at 4:26 pm #55954broku

you hit the nail right on the head. most mail servers don’t let you log in numerous times cause they do think you are trying to guess the pass. but not mister hotmail. no sir. “we expect that noone will ever figure outtheir passwords so lets let them guess as much as they want.” hotmail does not have that block. and if they do bruteforce must have found a way around it. i have no problem crackin passwords. and bruteforce ahs a new version allowing special symbols, number, upper case, and lower case to be searched all at once.
just like guessing someone’s secrete question. you can do that as much as you want to as well ^.^September 9, 2003 at 8:04 pm #55946shifter
Participantbroku – I would recomend that your step-mother change her password and secret question in her Hotmail account options. Her personal info is available in the hotmail account options, to anyone who has access to her account. That is how they were able to post her address and phone number. Someone has aparently gained knowledge of her password. Maybe have a read through our 5 Steps To Internet Security article.

nways thanx for the info…Brute force does NOT generate OR crack passwords…. I use it, I know. Passwords cannot be generated…. cracked / guessed? certainly. If anything Brute Force will guess a password using a dictionary.. that is the meaning of ‘Brute Force’ a program that pushes words from a dictionary at an area of the web requiring a password… simple. BruteForce is not a mystery simply a tool.

MemberTaken from my site:
Quote:quote:Hacking a Yahoo! account (or cracking) is not as easy as some people make out.
Yahoo! has patched nearly all it’s login servers so cracking is nigh on impossible.
But to make sure your account is better protected here are some ideasDon’t make your security question obvious
Don’t post your date of birth anywhere online
Don’t use single words for your password (ie. timothy, metro, sesame)
Use a combination of letters and numbers for your password (ie. 1z2x3c, t1m0thy, )
Use a mixture of upper and lowercase letters such as AlPhA, SexY1I wrote it for my Yahoo section but it applies to computers in general.
