I live in Perth, the most remote city in the world. I like it a lot.
Small population, great beaches, pretty safe etc…
Right now, however, I am extremly annoyed. Yet another band is comming to Australia (Motley Crue) and Perth misses out. Again! 😡
They are going to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Perth being bigger than both Brisbane amd Adelaide but since we dont have a decent venue and/or we are too far away, Motley Crue, and a countless list of other great acts won’t be comming to Perth/don’t ever come to Perth.
Araaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! So annoyed!
So tell children, what do you love about where you live? What do you hate?:D
May 10, 2005 at 3:46 pm #121516gossipingraeMemberI pretty much hate everything about where I live. I’m counting down the days until I graduate (May 13, 2006!!) and get a REAL job so I can move out!
I hate that this is a big tourist area. People from New York and New Jersey come here and are really disrespectful to the people who live here all the time. They like to litter in the woods and on the street. I hate that I have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest mall if I want to do some shopping.
I especially hate the community I live in. We need permission from the Property Owners Assoc. (POA) If we want to cut down trees. We also are not allowed to put up a fence in our backyard, to keep out the wild animals.
It makes me sad that I cannot plant a garden with my mom every spring, because the deer come and eat everything you plant. There is a list that states which plants deer don’t eat, but they are just plants. My mom and I like to plant flowers, to give our house a summer-y look. Nope, the stupid deer come and eat them up!
Maybe there are a few things I like about this place. Because I live on a mountain, and 80% of the people who go to my high school, the delays/cancellation of school is determined by us! We have early dismissals all the time, along with delays and cancellation. What sucks though, is that our holiday breaks are cut short. However, my high school is one of those who lets out the earliest. Graduation this year is June 3, the day after I turn 21. I mean really, how cool is that!
I’d have to say though, there are more bad things than good.
May 10, 2005 at 4:42 pm #121515sarahtownyMemberWell I love where I live its about an hours drive to the nearest large city and about 20 mins into the nearest town, so its out of the way moved here about 6 years ago due to it being a great place to bring up the children.
I love the open space of it here and the fields etc. Lucky in Britain really because if you want excitement of the capital its only a 3 hour train journey and you can be in central London or the oposite direction in Edinburgh.
I suppose I love to travel as some of you might know, but if your younger and cannot afford to do that your a bit stuck really, but personally I want to travel alot more.
But for now home is fine. The only thing I don’t like about being here is the rain! But that is the uk for you :0)
May 10, 2005 at 5:17 pm #121508TigerbladeParticipantwell i suppose i have two “where i live”s.
here at school, it’s nice cause obviously i’m close to all my classes, i’m away from the family and out on my own. it’s a pretty quiet town, not much going on. however, that’s also what i dont like about it. it’s a little hick town in the middle of nowhere. we’re surrounded by cornfields and farms. there is absolutely nothing to do in our immediate vicinity, and what little there is closes around 9pm. in a college town, why would they close so early?
at home, i like that i’m close to a major city, i like that it’s a nice little suburb that stays quiet most of the time. i don’t like that it’s wisconsin, and thus cold for half the year. come to think of it, there’s not much about my home that i dont like, other than the general stupidity of the town in general.
May 10, 2005 at 7:28 pm #121505Jeff HesterKeymasterI don’t feel like typing much today so I’ll be straight to the point.
Hurricane Season: Sucks and drains millions out of the state
A place full of beautiful girls, lovely sunny weather, the beach, everything such as Target, Walmart, Mall, and movie theater only 15 minutes away: Priceless
For everything else, there’s…well there isn’t anything else.
May 10, 2005 at 8:56 pm #121520NessaParticipantI live in San Antonio, Texas, and i love living here. It has just about everything and you can always find a large variety. We have the riverwalk, which is a great site to see and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Sea World, and like most others a zoo. The weather is usually very hot here, but if you’ve lived here for quite a while you get used to it. Its the type of city that makes you feel welcome, and you can see how support is given to teams like the Spurs, lots of people show their support to the team in different ways. We have one drive in (outside movie theatre), and tons of indoor theaters, from expensive one’s(about $8.00) to cheap one’s where you pay $1.50 for a movie.
The thing i do hate is the reputations it has….Extremely high rates of obesity and teenage pregnancy.
Other than that its a great place to live in or visit.
May 10, 2005 at 11:14 pm #121509RabidKittenParticipantDo they count the obesity and pregnancy twice for the pregnant girls? Hey…it’s an honest question…right?
Mm, what can be said about Rochester?
Me Gusta:
We’re in a valley so that means few tornadoes
We have the best hospital in the world (in some opinions) here so you don’t have to worry about getting hacks for doctors
As much as I whine, I love the change of the seasons
The Biggest Little Town ever…little crime, a laughable “ghetto”, gangs are pathetic
We get the county fair here and all kinds of neat concerts thanks to the Civic Center
Easy map system that somehow confuses newcommers…it’s quarters people…NW,NE,SW,SE…gah!
Because we’re so isolated and the nearest real city is an hour and a half away, we have -everything- here.
My family is hereNo me gusta:
It gets warm, but it’s HUMID warm.
Mosquitos
Snow/Ice/Hail
No tornadoes but we get flooding
People are so isolated here that they’re very rude
The doctors rule the town, if they dont like something, no matter how inaine, it’s changed
Closest strip club is 45 minutes away
Closest Hardees is next to the strip club
Everything Closes at 10pm
Anything that has to do with Teenagers, Music, New Age, Pagans or Hippies is frowned on and quickly run out of town.
My family is hereI take the good with the bad *shrug* But in honesty I’d like to go somewhere else…but I’d almost be afraid to. Lived in Rochester my whole life. Anything bigger scares me and anything smaller bores me. The idea of locking doors at night is attrocious, and yet, I like the option to go yell at hookers on a corner…so really…what’s a girl to do?
May 11, 2005 at 12:36 am #121512neo_ny_23MemberLocation where I currently live: Rochester, NY.
Things I hate about Rochester: Everything. The city is too tiny, uncity, underdeveloped and boooooring. People are unfriendly and not entirely sociable. The weather can be categorized as “terrible” which sometimes make me wonder why people chose such stupid places to survive their winters. Winter sucks. So almost does Spring with its rain and mud and crap. Come fall, and welcome back to rain and mud and coldness. And above all why I hate Rochester is because of RIT. I H.A.T.E. R.I.T.
Things I like about Rochester: NONE… On a second thought, may be few days of the summer with flowers and sunshine and hot girls and stuff….
May 11, 2005 at 2:33 am #121511AwesomeSauceParticipantThings I like about where I live:
It’s a safe and pretty friendly place.
It’s squished inbetween Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains, so it has natural bounderies and it’s impossible to get lost.
It’s not too far away from Salt Lake city.
It’s not too big.
There are no Wal-Marts.
The mountains to the east of it are awesome.Things I don’t like:
There are way too many gnats, especially right now.
The seasons are messed up.
Sometimes the air can be really polluted, due to inversion. If I can think of anything else, I’ll add it.

2.) RIT is like one of the fewest colleges that offer co-ops which are important for jobs, which other colleges (the ones I know) hardly offer. So even if I hate my school, my professors, and my grades, I DO have to stick to it because of the job opportunities available in this college.Out of curosity, where do u study? I should have transfered there 😉
May 11, 2005 at 12:36 pm #121507sciencefeelingMemberI like:
The weather, the beach the sun, summer storms, clear water.
My family.
My friends.I don´t like:
Too populated, too much consturction.
Too many crazy tourists (I don´t complain about normal people).
Too many drugs around. And the place is…Ibiza. The most beautiful place ever..that is, if you really want to discover what it is about, instead of just party all the time. There is much more to it than party

May 11, 2005 at 2:39 pm #121506Jeff HesterKeymasterI live in Bethpage NY which is on Longisland. Bethpage is a typical surburban setting with hometown values. The only thing i would ever want to change is one of neighbors.

Hahaha! Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is where I am studying Communications and Marketing. Oh, I love it here soo much! What stinks about it, is that once all the college students go home on break, there is really nothing to this town. I love the college aspect of it.
Straight up, a lot of people will tell you that Bloomsburg is a slacker school. Which, if you ask me, it kind of is. I got below a 700 on my SAT score and I got in. Of course, I had to do the summer program though. There’s a guy on our football team who got a scholarship to Michigan State to play football there, but he was too stupid to attend classes, so he came to Bloom instead.
But, there are many good things about this school. BU used to be called many things, one of them Bloomsburg Literary Institute. People would come here if they wanted to be a teacher. There are soooo many students here who are in education. So that is a plus.
Also, we have an exceptional program here for Speech Pathology/Audiology. People from all over the country come here just to get a SpeechPath/Audiology degree. It’s really a great field to be in.
One more note, our College of Business (that I am in) is an accredited school. Only 500 schools in the entire world can have this title. I’m glad our school is one of them. When people see this on your resume, that you went to an accredited school, it’s a wonderful thing.
And, Neo, why would you transfer, because of lil old me 😉
May 11, 2005 at 6:00 pm #121514neo_ny_23MemberNice description. The best thing is that you love your college. Offcourse in my college, not all students hate it like I do, and those are students from College of Bussiness, College of Liberal arts, and Imaging Arts and design.
I was pondering about whole thing last night (thanks to the depressing score which my professor gave me… I was getting 95% in the class for whole 8 weeks and on 9th week in the final exam he kinda flunked the whole class (He admitted that it was the toughest exam he has ever made for his students) n after the final test my dreams of A were ruined. Same with another similar technology course 🙁 ).
I realized, students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and IT and other techie majors here, have absolutely NO LIFE. I wonder where do they get time to party or just even relax? I try to manage my time as much as possible but still everything gets screwed up even if am on top of my game for 8 to 9 weeks. This is what I hate about this college. When professors themselve make mistakes, everything is tolerated. But when we do a single mistake in the entire quarter or have ONE bad day or ONE bad two hour session, then the whole grade dips. Here the techie professors themselves have no lives and they are trying their level best to make sure that the students also become as nerdy as they are and work more crazy and more hours than the machines which run in the lab. I wonder if they know if there are two words called “FUN” or “BREAK”.
Oh btw Rae, you aren’t old yet given that you are almost of my age 😉
