Longhorn is yet another ****ty version of Microsoft’s poor attempt at creating an operating system: Windows.
4053 is the build number.I don’t usually go against the opinion of moderators, but Windows isn’t that bad is it? It’s always been ok for me anyway.
Just another thought, Longhorn is due for commercial release in 2008 I think, is that right?
2008? I don’t think it’s that late….maybe late 2006 early 2007…and with how windows suck?…well….they do…it’s just that people who use it for everday purpose like word and e-mail don’t notice it…..but when more safisticated work is needed to be done…it always somehow mess up…:(:mad:
i thought it was 2006. god I hope not 2008. theyre going to lose their monopoly on the os market if they keep releasing os’s only every 5-6 years. im thinking about trying linux, if it werent for hardware compatibility id probably totally switch. until then I think im going to try knoppix, it lets you run linux from a cd without need for an installation. good in emergencies and then at least ill get to test drive linux for a little while.
Well, i’ve kind of been trying to track whats happening with Longhorn from various sources around the Internet. And yes, as far as I know, it was due in 2006. However, Microsoft then delayed it until 2008. Do correct me if i’m wrong. However, I also heard that because Longhorn was going to be so late, Microsoft are going to release an Operating System to sort of “bridge the gap” between XP and Longhorn. Wait for it…Windows XP Reloaded. Apparently. I remember Windows ME, wasn’t this a similar “bridge” between 98 and XP?

its funny how I did that exact same search on google last night and got nothing, thats the reason I asked the nice people here.

You can always get a windows emulator, do a google search for wine windows emulator

I think it makes a lot more sense to run Windows inside of Linux than Linux inside of Windows (with Virtual PC, VWMare, or WinE (to name a few)). Did anyone ever mention that some PC games actually run FASTER when you when run them through a Windows emulator on Linux?
As for why I think Windows sucks, that’s rather plain and simple. I like it when I’m the boss over my own computer, and not the other way around. I can customize Linux to my own unlimited needs. Hell, I could even rename the entire thing to “Weenux” if I’d like.
Linux is free. As in, freedom.
