What exactly is the difference between Windows Live Messenger, Windows Messenger, and MSN Messenger?
I used to have MSN Messenger and I liked it, but since then apparently it has been updated to Windows Live Messenger. Is this right? And what is Windows Messenger? On this new computer I got it had Windows Messenger which appears to not be Windows Live or MSN either.
Hi Melodeath from what you say I think you have windows web messenger installed is similar to msn but with out the emoticons and refinements. All you need to do is download msn 🙂
Windows Live Messenger = MSN Messenger v8.+
MSN Messenger v7.5 = discontinued
Windows Messenger = Packaged with Windows XP (very out of date)Well, it split my contacts into 2 groups, both with the same name (“Other Contacts”). I had all my contacts in one group I think, but it changed it.
It also changed the way the contact list sorts – from viewing who’s online and offline, to groups.
Other than that I’m not sure if it did anything.
Nothing that you did wrong. Each client uses it’s own default settings. You can reset each setting via the proper menus.
