I keep noticing weird things in my firewall logs…. it reports to me 4 different things I have no clue about.. what are these?
Ping Attack
SYN Flooding
Cloaking
Mostly by IP addresses that have the SAME first 3 sets of numbers as mine but with different last sets of numbers. same.same.same.??
does anyone know anything about this stuff?
I’m pretty sure that if you’re reviewing your firewall logs, than this isn’t a problem. My firewall, in fact, gets just as much traffic, if not more. Here’s an example of some of the stuff my firewall blocks:
INF 2006/01/09 21:53:01 CST FW: severity=info src=68.186.124.208 dst=68.75.176.189 ipprot=17 sport=4582 dport=59997 Unknown inbound session stopped
2006/01/09 21:54:06 CST Previous log entry repeated 20 times.
INF 2006/01/09 21:54:12 CST FW: severity=info src=218.27.103.206 dst=68.75.176.189 ipprot=17 sport=46988 dport=1027 Unknown inbound session stopped
INF 2006/01/09 21:54:12 CST FW: severity=info src=218.27.103.206 dst=68.75.176.189 ipprot=17 sport=46988 dport=1026 Unknown inbound session stopped
And that all happens in the background, without affecting you or your computer. Don’t worry…most people don’t read their firewall logs, anyway, they just know its working, that should be enough to make you happy. 🙂
By the way, mind thinking up better thread titles next time? Thanks!
Sorry lol.. I was in a state of confusion.. I wasn’t sure how to explain what my problem was in the title.
