Hey All, remember when you had installed last time your Operating System? It’s two days before or two years:confused:
December 12, 2004 at 6:58 pm #108576MartinBradleyMemberAbout a year ago.
I don’t reinstall these things unless I need to. Actually, I can’t even remember why I reinstalled my OS.
December 12, 2004 at 6:59 pm #108584AqeelParticipantI installed my OS just a week before because of ‘Cool Web Search’ you can also see my post in BBB. But the installation was not a problem because I used a backup. I installed my WIN XP with Norton Ghost, just in 6 minutes with the whole features, settings and tweaks.
What about you?
Edit
Well Martin too quick to reply:) Congratulations on becoming member of the month and it’s quite long time running this OS.December 12, 2004 at 7:03 pm #108582SmittizzleMemberI haven’t reinstalled since I bought my computer. Nothing has gone wrong to have to reinstall.
December 12, 2004 at 7:04 pm #108580Hurricane22491MemberI’ve been wanting to reinstall my OS on my desktop, but I don’t have the disc to do that, and I’m not about to spend another $200 just for that. I’m probably going to get a new desktop soon anyways (hopefully).
December 12, 2004 at 7:30 pm #108577DaJMan1800MemberAbout 2 years ago was when I reinstalled Windows 98 Second Edition numerous times… I hated that computer. Then it was a year ago when I installed XP on my new computer. Then, 1-2 mos ago when I installed SP2, even though that doesn’t really count as installing an OS.
December 12, 2004 at 9:10 pm #108585AqeelParticipanthi DaJMan ummmn.. u know one thing I have changed my avater today because it was same as were yours.. I thought that you are a senior and elder BBB member so it’s your right:)
Aaah, every three or four months I reinstall my OS because it runs faster then the old installation, do you agree? Not then reinstall and then answer.;)December 12, 2004 at 10:47 pm #108578TigerbladeParticipantif you’re reinstalling your OS every few months… I think you’re having some pretty severe problems. i’m curious as to what OS you have, and what programs you run to protect it. my XP Home hasnt slowed down at all since I installed it, and the only reason I had to reinstall it last year was because I managed to get a virus that corrupted my explorer process. since then I havent noticed any decreased performance…..
December 12, 2004 at 10:53 pm #108581SpikeMemberA month ago I switched to Mandrake Linux 10, but nothing ran right on it, so I had to go back to Windows with a formatted hard drive. Nothing on it, no programs, no files, nothing. The upside to it, though, is that my computer runs more efficiently and smoothly now.
December 12, 2004 at 11:00 pm #108571detn8rParticipantAre we talking about just reinstalling the OS, or reformatting the HDD? I’ve never just reinstalled my OS.Quote:quote:remember when you had installed last time your Operating System?Bah.. on October 24, 2004. 😎

December 12, 2004 at 11:49 pm #108579RabidKittenParticipantActually about 3 months ago…3 or 4…something like that *groan* I remember that headache, I was a dumbshyte and ended up deleting my recovery partition when I tried to install my OS on it again. The OS was fine, but the recovery partition was toast so I had to send away to HP for CDs for my machine.
Not bad for my first time *snickers* talk about a total screw up ne?December 13, 2004 at 12:36 pm #108586AqeelParticipantMy problem is this that I do not install any antivirus software, installing and updating it is a headache and the other problem is this that here in Pakistan most of the time people use piraced software, and I too.. that software contains viruses and trojan these infect your pc’s performance. And 3rd problem is this that I do alot of experimentation with different softwares this is another reason of crushing my OS. After some time I start getting registry errors and OS infected with virus, then I just had to reinstall the OS but… 1st makes a virus check, clean all possible virus infections.

Wouldn’t it just make more sense to use Anti-Virus software? Sure sounds like a lot less work than reinstalling every week.
