Just to kick things off, who here owns a Windows Mobile device? What do you love or hate about it?
I’ve got two: An HP iPAQ PDA that is actually pretty nice. Bluetooth and Wifi, but no phone network capability. I’ve been able to use Skype Mobile on it successfully, as well as apps for IRC, IM and of course web browsing. I can even watch my Slingbox on it.
I’ve also got an HP iPAQ phone that has a built-in keyboard. Nice, but the screen is about half the size of my older PDA.
What I like about them both is that they work very well with Windows and integrate nicely with Outlook for email, contacts, etc. What I don’t like is that they both run Windows Mobile 2003, which a lot of newer software doesn’t support. And neither are upgradable.
I have a Samsung Blackjack running Windows Mobile 6 that I use primarily as a 3g modem when I’m traveling.
Sitting on my desk is an ASUS Mypal A639 which has integrated GPS/Wifi/Bluebooth that I’ve used with iGuidance when I’m in the car.
Neither of these devices preform all that well in form, but the function and extendability is amazing.
I’m a Samsung Blackjack also. And I agree, the phone isn’t anything wonderful as far as phone calls go…but I use it as a modem as well when I”m travelling. Saves a ton on hotel internet fees, and it works in conference rooms (whereas a lot of hotel internet does not – even if you’ve paid for it.)
I was a bit disappointed that in order to listen to my music I had to have a stereo headset. With the proprietary plug it has for accessories, it was pricey just to get some earbuds. Would have been nice if it would have worked with a standard BT mono headset. But, so they say, if the music is stereo then it wants stereo headphone to listen to it.
Syncs well to Outlook (XP 2003 version) even on Vista. And my Blackjack calendar is really the only one I use or refer to.
Next time….Blackjack II with the GPS capabilities…

I use the original Motorola Q (Yeah a year old or so) running Windows Mobile 5. While I don’t take advantage of wide range of apps for it mainly because of space limitations or just lack of interest, I absolutely love using it for texting purposes or typing up various whatever. Great phone.
I got a Motorola Q off of eBay because it was cheap. I guess it’s kind of versatile with all the stuff you can throw on there but there is noticeable lag if you have too much open. The worst feature is probably the fact that there isn’t much room on the Q itself (for apps). You can have the miniSD card for additional storage (music and such) but it isn’t he same. On top of that whenever you hit ‘end’ on a program it doesn’t actually close it – it just ‘alt tabs’ out and takes up your processor speed. Processor isn’t all that awesome considering it’s a mobile phone so having multiple things is kind of a hassle. Having a ‘task manager’ is good though.
HTC Mogul from Sprint it’s pretty sorry it’s laggy and slow the data connection never stays active when your moving to a different tower and stuff. It’s the worst phone I’ve ever had it’s very laggy and can hardly run the programs it came with.

I have a Nokia Lumia 710. I like the phone and Windows Phone 7 OS as well. I am also developing an own app for Windows Phone 7. While I was doing my research I came across a page with a detailed guide about how to develop an app for Windows Phone 7. There are code examples inclueded (if you are interested: Ozeki C# VoIP SDK – A SIP SDK for software developers). By the way I am also looking forward to the new Lumia 820 and 920 with Windows 8 OS.
