Since they’re not gonna update it anymore. I want to use the latest version of AIM but the two features that are an absolute must for me is logged messages and tabs. So whats the best to use?
Besides Trillain.
I use Aimutation myself (well, when I’m not using Trillian). It has the absolute musts you are looking for, and more.

bigDee – yes, Trillian is good. I’d go so far as to say it’s awesome; I use Trillian exclusively, unless there’s something that doesnt work right for some reason that REQUIRES me to have the native client running. (links in profiles dont appear as links with trillian, little insignificant things like that) i almost NEVER run AIM, or MSN, and i dont even have Y!IM installed. Trillian is stable, skinnable, pretty user-friendly, non-cluttered, just generally amazing. i highly recommend it. you may also want to visit our Trillian forum and information center to get more information about it
I use AIM with Ad hack (gets rid of extra junk) and Google Desktop (logging), if you add SMILEZ then you can have the tabbed windows as well.

If you do multi-protocol, definitely go with Trillian or Gaim, otherwise for just AIM, take a look at TerraIM.
go with Messenger:mate aim ifs well worth the $5 and theres a new version coming out soon with a whole lot more features being added

It is not wise buying something without testing it first. Although many people may say that it is well worth it, YOU can never be too sure. I am not trying to shoot down Messenger:Mate but choose wisely.

its the only add-on compatible with 5.9 right now plus i have never seen any other add-on that has explot blocking, and skinning as good as M:M(i know aimutation and palfun have skinning but not as good) and plus you only listed 2 or 3 actual add-ons and middleman/smilez sucks

Middleman/Smilez works perfectly with 5.9.3702. Skinning is not very important and I will never sink to your level to say that an add-on “sucks”. Just shows how immature people like you can be.
And the title of the post says, alternatives to DeadAIM not specifically add-ons so my examples/list is perfectly valid.
