ParticipantI recently was unable to sign into my MSN messenger program. I’m not sure what happened, it was sort of out of the blue. what it does, It starts to sign in(displays sign in animation) then it just stops and goes back to the “Click here to sign in”. Once in a while it will give me a error code: 0x81000xxx. I looked at the sticky post”important” about its solutions, but nothing worked. I reinstalled several times and I have deleted registry, user account and other types of files too. I don’t know what to do anymore, I’m stuck using Windows Messenger, and lord knows ,that program is a piece of crap. If you can help me in any way, I will be much grateful, Thank you in advance.
Sincerly,

MemberAngelusErrare,
In order for us to help you, we require more specific details such as system specs and software versions. Please indicate which Messenger version you are using, what addon’s and plugins are added, etc.

MemberSo you say you received an error code? Which error code was it? Have you tried searching the forum’s here for possible solutions?

MemberI am sorry, I cannot help you anymore than I have tried since I do not know what your problem is. Simply saying (and I quote), “I recently was unable to sign into my MSN messenger” is not enough information. This could be relating to more than just one error code. We cannot read minds here. For us to help you, you need to help us just as much. Again I am sorry, I have no solutions for you, other than maybe giving more specific details, such as error code #.

ParticipantThat’s just the problem, I don’t get an error message. I got it once, and now I don’t get it anymore. so I don’t know the error#. It just starts to sign in and then stops and brings me back to the “click here to sign in” thing…

KeymasterIn order to determine if the problem is with your account or with your computer, can you try the following?
Try logging into MSN Messenger on another computer. If that works fine, then you know the problem lies somewhere in the configuration of your computer.
If that doesn’t work, create a new MSN account and try logging in with that. If that works, then you know that the problem is indeed with that particular account. Your only hope is to contact MSN and see if they can help you solve the problem.
I’m betting that something is messed up on your computer.
One other thing to try is Windows Messenger (not MSN Messenger). It uses the same accounts, but it’s a different program. If that works, you’ll at least be able to access your contacts until we can help you get MSN Messenger working.

MemberIf you are using Windows Messenger in the mean time while MSN Messenger is not signing you in, and you do not like it, why not install an IM client?

Participantif its that you open Messenger click to sign into Messenger … tidles for awhile and then goes back to sign in, messenger doesnt detect an internet connection. I would look for firewalls and possible AV software, things of this nature. You wouldent get an error message after the initial if you uninstalled and reinstalled the software … 😛 weird I know but this seems to be the happening. Also try to see if you have problems accessing secure sites in IE like banking sites. Sometimes its simply this
