What is your favorite interoperable messenger?
An interoperable messenger is one that is compatible with other instant messengers (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo).
If you vote for “other” be sure to post a reply that specifies why and what you’re voting for. Of course, if you wanna just say why you think you’re vote is the RIGHT vote, you’re entitled.

I almost picked Odigo, I’ve used it for 1-1/2 years and still do, but mainly only for their own IM network (not the interoperable features). Ended up voting for Trillian.

Does any one happen to know how do those who developed these interoperable IM clients get to know the peer-to-peer voice/video conference protocols of AIM, MSN or Y!messenger?
Is it available for license or in public domain?

Actually, the voice/video capabilities of the native clients are one of the features that has not been duplicated by the interoperable clients. Mostly they provide basic text chat, with varying degrees of extra features (buddy icons, file transfer, chat rooms, etc.).
And no, none of these are advertised as available for license. But everyone has their price!
