Wow, to say the less, thats large, but after all, it is dual monitor. I think that 800×600 is the most common, but I wans’t sure, I run on 1204×768. I hope you don’t mind if I’m kind of using you guys, I’m making a template for my site and I didn’t know which was the most common:D. But I’m sure some other people would want to know as well.

MemberYou mean 1024×768, not 1204×768.

MemberP.S.
If you don’t know how to check your screen resolution, right click on your desktop, click on the settings tab, and you will see there 😎 Or you can go to a little cheep angelfire site such that i made because my site is down: http://www.angelfire.com/blog/shadowserver/resolution.htmlOctober 6, 2003 at 1:18 am #89674Tigerblade
Participantyou’re missing one… i’m at 1152 x 864…. somehow lower is just too big for me, and any higher is just way too small. i like being able to have more than 4 tabs open on the taskbar, but i also like being able to read the text on the screen… the only problem is when i design webpages, i have to keep in mind that other people have lower resolutions, and when i’m IMing people, my font looks a lot bigger on their screens than it does on mine… i had no idea my font was that big until i IM’d myself from the school computer lab 😮
might wanna add that to your choices

ParticipantI always run at 1024×768. I think you’ll find that most people who use there computers for software other than word proccessing and the like, prefer to run at this size. But, it is a general web-design rule to design with 800×600 in mind (at least in my area of the world).
Oh, and it’s pixels not pixles. 😉

MemberI like 1024 x 768. The only problem is that most desktop wallpaper is made at 800 x 600. If someone can find a site with alot of free 1024 x 768 wallpaper feel free to tell me…

ParticipantThe vast majority of computer users are still using 600×800 these days, hence the fact that all professional websites are optimized for a 600×800 resolution.
A 1024×768 resolution is slowly becoming the minimum default in today’s industry, but not quite there yet. One day… [:P]

ParticipantI can’t see why anyone would use 600×800 on XP. It’s just too damn big. Unless your using a monitor 15” or less, maybe, or if your video card is low on megs, or running ME and below OK… but I think 800×600 is just disgustingly, disgusting. 😀

MemberI used to have my notebook set to 1600×1200 (it was the default resolution), and my computer at home is set to 1280×1024. But when my notebook died on me the other week I had to switch back to an old 21″ CRT monitor and 1600×1200 just looked way too small, so I set it to 1280×1024 there too. I’ll probably change it to something smaller (higher resolution) later because it’s annoying when there’s so little room for everything on low resolutions…
Perhaps also good to know: my notebook was a Dell Inspiron 8000 that had a 15″ TFT monitor, my PC at home has an 18.1″ TFT monitor by LG. I’m still a little PO-ed that I can’t get it to run on a higher resolution, but I’ve gotten used to it 🙂

MemberPersonally, I think 1024×768 is the best, but the bigblueball home page works well with all of the resolutions listed on the poll, very nice design :D. But with 1024×768 you can get lots of information on one page and the font isn’t too small. But it appears that most like 800×600, but as detn8r said, its just too dang big on xp.
