MemberIf i’m chatting with someone and i send them a link to anything at all (even like http://www.google.com) i instantly get signed off and the message says, “another user has signed on with your name” etc.
Then when i sign back on, i try to IM people so i type in the box, but when i hit enter of click send, nothing happens!
Anyone know why this would be????

MemberAIM bug, perhaps a virus? Run AIMFix, perhaps that will fix the problem. You can download a fresh copy of AIM and install it, after un-installing your current version.

Guess i’ll try uninstalling and installing.
Will my buddy list be kept?

MemberYou can save it manually, I think, from your Program Files folder, but it will already be stored on the AIM server when you sign in with your username.

It’s really strange. So i’ll send the link and get signed off. Then some people i can message, and some i can’t. But when someone messages me i can suddenly message people again.
It’s like AIM thinks i’m a spam bot, but once someone messages me it realizes i’m not??
I have no clue…no one else is experiencing this?

MemberAIM doesn’t want spamming to occur, happening to everyone, deal with it nub

Participantno, it’s not happening to everyone. and i’m pretty sure it’s not to prevent spamming.
i imagine it’s some sort of virus. have you tried running virus scans, spybot, ad-aware, etc?

As the mod said, it’s not happening to everyone.

I use http://housecall.antivirus.com and it didn’t find anything.
Would it possibly be adware?

Participantit’s entirely possible. i’d suggest scanning your computer with ad-aware, perhaps spybot search&destroy, etc. see what turns up.
just as a side note, grimlock – you might want to use the edit button instead of double posting. not a problem, just a quick forum tip.

Ok, i’ll give it a try, thanks.
What do you mean double posting?

Participantgrimlock07 wrote:What do you mean double posting?double posting is making two separate posts right after another instead of editing the first post to include the information. it’s simple to correct, just click the big green edit button at the end of your post. (i just merged your previous double posts together)

Memberugh this has been happening to me too and i really don’t think it’s a virus becase i’m on a mac and i don’t get viruses 🙁 ever. the only solution i’ve found is to use the actual aim “link” button but whenever i forget to use it and just paste the link into the aim box i get kicked off and it takes forever for me to be able to message again. and it only happens on my new screen name, my old ones are fine.
