Thats where mine are! 🙂
You will have to display hidden files and folders if you haven’t already to reach the destination folder

Please don’t forget to use the search feature next time. It’s a good way to find answers and in this case your question has been asked and answered many times before.

I’m also looking for where the emoticans are stored, i went there but i’m unable to open them….
What i want to do is…take the emoticon and put it in Paint Shop….and re-edit it…and either use it as an msn emoticon or use it as a jpg for future creations in PSP. Ive downloaded reshacker ..as I thought that might be of some help…but im still not finding the emoticons…unless i’m being seriously DUH!! lol….does anyone know HOW i can grab them, and put them in PSP???
ThanksJanuary 26, 2006 at 6:45 pm #134332dix10Membersorry wanted to pointmy question to you 🙂 are the emoticons png files?? im so confused WHY can’t they use a more friendlier format? lol
January 27, 2006 at 4:53 pm #134322princeGParticipantWelcome to BigBlueBall dix10, this is exactly where emoticons are stored and with the Reshack program will let you modify parts of *.exe and *.dll files and then mostly the images in it.
January 27, 2006 at 10:27 pm #134329dix10Memberok so i got that right…when i click on the png files…it doesn’t tell me which emoticon it is, unless im lookingin the wrong spot…and HOW would i get them out of msn into psp??? thanks for your patience 🙂 once i grasp it ill be fine lol *i think*

January 27, 2006 at 11:38 pm #134320princeGParticipantUnless you had saved them in some other folder you created, no, they should be there.
But I don’t know how you can put them into PSP to be honestJanuary 28, 2006 at 1:33 am #134328dix10Memberok i guess i need to keep looking….i brought other emoticons into animation shop…i didn’t try paint shop…i just can’t seem to find the custom emoticons …and how would i save them to another folder?? that might be an option as well…if i knew where i saved them…i could go directly to that folder….these are emoticons someone has used in a conversation and i grabbed them…i assumed they allwent to the same place and you couldn’t change that 🙂

You add the emoticon from the conversation and you choose a location to save it. Then you go to Tools > My emoticons and you load it on the emoticons panel.
February 6, 2006 at 1:33 am #134326Richard DanglinMemberI wanna find them too !!
first I found some custom emoticons but they were .dat and wouldnt open, then as suggested I went to
C: >> Documents and Settings >> (your username) >> Application Data >> Microsoft >> MSN Messenger >> (folder with random numbers) >> CustomEmoticonsbut there are a ton of numbered folders, most have a folder inside the numbered one called ” custom emotions” but when i opened all these they were empty!!
damnFebruary 13, 2006 at 4:44 pm #134333l3ladeMemberwhat program can we use to edit these files??
February 14, 2006 at 11:29 pm #134313detn8rParticipantEach number usually represents a passport used to log in. When you open the folder of your choice such as custom emoticons, rename the .dat file to .jpg and you will be able to view the image. Just note that once the .dat file is renamed, msn messenger will no longer reconigize it and you will have to re-upload it.
