MemberI’d like to know what exotic, snow filled, and just plain fun places everyone is going to this summer. Yes, yes I know it’s already midway into the summer- So those that have gone somwhere already, I’d like to hear where you’ve gone too. And uh, if someone has already made a topic like this..I’m sorry, I just didn’t see one :o.
Heh, to kick it off, I’ll be going to Florida with my family on the 22nd of July and will stay there for 10 days. We’ll be close to Tampa…so yeah. Florida rocks, well, exotic places with palm trees and big waves do anyway :D. Also, I might go to Cedar Point on the 21st with the drumline for Brighton High School, which I will be attending next year. And the 20th is my birthday 0_o. So, lol, I get to relax for a couple of days- As some of you may know, I just moved so I’m always like really tired and stuff , but it works out…I guess. Oh, and I’m attending the Eminem Concert at Comerica Park on the 12th of August.
Ya, once again, sorry if this has been made already *innocent*, I’m just a bit lazy sometimes.
…Gotta love the summer.

MemberI went to a lake for a week with my church for a camp. That was real fun. Then I went to the Bahamas for 9 days with my church choir. Most of the time we were in the ghetto part, throwing festivals for all the little kids. However, the last night we got to stay at the Atlantis! It was amazing.

Participanti came home. (from school) and now i get to go to this amazing place all the time – work. not exactly the most glamorous “vacation” – really, the academic year is more of a vacation for me than the summer/winter breaks.
although, just one more year and there will be no more “academic year” for me anymore, so then maybe i’ll start to have real vacation experiences.

Participant*meekly raises her hand* Um…I stayed in Rochester…a-a-and then one day…I went to Racine, 20 minutes away. It was great. I got lost in the 6 streets the town actually has. No no, I take that back. It’s the -Village- Of Racine. Not even a town.
But yeah, that’s what I did this summer.
My ex says he wants to take me up to Valley Fair (an hour away) sometime next week to celibrate his birthday together. We’ll see how that turns out.

KeymasterMy wife and I took a road trip up to San Francisco, then back down along the California coast. Here are all the gritty details, with pictures.
We have another vacation planned the first week in August, with stops in Mammoth Lakes (the eastern Sierras) and Yosemite, but that’s currently being reconsidered due to her unfortunate accident (she broke her foot).
And RabidKitten, I’ve been to Racine — home of one of the Johnson Wax Building — the work of my architectural hero, Frank Lloyd Wright.

MemberI’m going to Jersey with my family on the 16th-23rd, only 4 more days! We go to the Long Beach Providence. We decided not to go back to Cape Cod for a while, the streets were crazy over there in Hyannis… It took us an hour to find somewhere to eat, we finally found a Pizza Joint and ate there. It was all really confusing. Anyway, I am going to NJ and possibly PA to visit my Aunts/Uncle that live there. Call me strange but I just love PA, it’s so scenic and quiet…
I might also go Camping with my mom. We love to Camp… 😀July 13, 2005 at 5:12 am #126022colin
MemberMy dad grew up in PA, I want to visit it some day, it sounds really cool.

Hear, hear. I’ve been bouncing between jobs like wildfire. I can’t seem to say in one place for longer than 2 months. Wow, I can’t believe I’ve been home for that long already!
It seems to me that whenever I am home for a long period of time, I wish I were at school, and when I am at school for a long period of time, I wish I were at home (for like 20 minutes) HAHAH.
The only sort of “vacation” I had so far was going to Atlantic City as a belated birthday present. That was a lot of fun! I’m currently in the process of begging my parents to go to the shore for the week/weekend. Ocean City New Jersey, holllaaaaaaa!
Anyways, where I live is a big tourist attraction. The ski mountains (Big Boulder/Jack Frost), the five-star vacation resort (Split Rock), and then you’ve got good ol’ Jim Thorpe, right smack in the Coal Region, and home of the Molly Maguires. So it’s more like I am entertaining for those people who are on vacation. Blech.
DISCLAIMER: Do not come to Pennsylvania. There is nothing great about Pennsylvania. Except for Philly. And while you may not be from PA, visiting the Pocono Mountains may seem like a good idea, but really, try living here. It stinks. But don’t let my opinion discourage you 😀
oh PS: Sam…Racine? As in the Racine Belles from A League of Their Own?

KeymasterTwo weeks ago during a weekend, my friends and I went to Tampa Bay to go to Busch Gardens once again to get away from the daily stresses of life. It was very fun despite the one hour of rain, and one of my friends little brother being a brat wanting to ride one ride right then and there while everyone else wanted to go another ride. Kids…
Anyway it was a great time and we went on my favorite ride, even though it has no drops, which is the wooden roller coaster called Gwazi. Everything rattles and shakes and it does sharp turns and it is very fast. At one part it slows down and two roller coasters (since there are two tracks) are side by side and you can pretty much wave at the other riders and yell obscenities, I mean um, say hi, and then it speeds up again. It is a lot of fun!
We also went in the new ride (after an hour and a half of waiting in line) called Sheikra. I’ll just quote what it’s about from the Busch Garden’s website:
SheiKra carries riders up 200 feet at 45 degrees, then hurtles them 70 mph back toward the ground at a 90-degree angle. It is the first coaster of its kind in the Americas and only the third in the world.
SheiKra is the first dive coaster to incorporate an Immelmann loop, a water feature, and a second 90-degree 138-foot drop through an underground tunnel. SheiKra also includes a 360-degree climbing carousel. 3,188 feet of steel track offers a total ride time of just over three minutes
That 90-degree drop was quite an experience, I felt like my kidney was coming out of my ear. It ROCKED!
*Sigh*There’s nothing like feeling like a kid again. 😀

ParticipantI, as mentioned in another post, went to California. I got to go to Disneyland Resort, Disney’s Californian Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm, and Universal Studios. All of those places were wonderful and i had the best time ever. It was my first time ever on a plane and my first time visiting another state. I have only seen Texas since it’s where i live, and gone out of the country to Mexico to visit relatives. It was a good experience and next year i plan to visit another state and hope i have just as a good time as i did in Cali.

Participantgossipingrae wrote:oh PS: Sam…Racine? As in the Racine Belles from A League of Their Own?i know i’m not Sami, but… no. actually it’s kind of fitting that i respond. there’s a Racine in Wisconsin (where i live) and a Racine in Minnesota (where she lives). the Racine Belles hailed from the Wisconsin one.actually, two of my roommates are from Racine, so i was amused to learn of another one. of course there’s duplicate town names for just about every town, so….

ParticipantHah, you’re kidding, Tom. That’s funny. Yeah, the Racine here has a whole 6 streets and I happened to get lost in them *blush* I guess I’m just used to Rochester’s square block streets rather than the windy ones. Didn’t help that they were named as opposed to numbered.
But anywho, I didn’t know there was a Racine in Wisco (kids around here call Wisconsin Wisco…don’t ask me why). But as for duplicate names, there are a ton of them. *nod nod* For example, I know that Rochester MN was named after Rochester NY. The founder of this city thought that NY’s Rochester was such a nice place that he’d go ahead and be lame and name us after it *shrug*.
*chuckles* Maybe for a little mini vacation I’ll have to drive over to the Wisconsin Racine and see if I get lost in that one too! *wink*

MemberIf you want to talk about duplicate names….Try “Springfield” there is one almost EVERY state. (That’s why The Simpsons was set in “Springfield”) I seem to remember some odd movie about people going to all of the Springfields…or perhaps it was a deranged dream I had as child. As far as summer Vaca….Elisa does not get one…for the first time….in almost FOREVER….*Siff* Though I do plan on getting some R&R at the cabin.
