MemberI’m running XP Pro with all the updates. The Messenger tabs have disappeard and the Tools menu option to show/hide tabs has also disappeared. Does anyone have any idea what caused this? Did Mickeysoft decide they didn’t like them and just yank them or what? I’ve seen dozens of posts on Mickeysoft’s WM newsgroup from people with this problem but no solutions. MS’s knowledgebase is empty.
Any suggestions?

MemberOh wow, dont blame us, we didnt do it.
I run the same setup as U n so far have not seen this problem.
Maybe a search thru the knowlege base will turn up something.
a: how long have U experienced this?
b: anything newly installed at that time?
c: is there a common thread appearing in the ‘many’ posts at MS?
d: did a delete and re-install of messenger really achieve nothing?
e: is a re-install of the OS out of the question?
f: assume that part of the registry is corrupt and work from there.October 30, 2002 at 5:41 pm #99783IHiJump

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled WM and no go.
I’ll check the registry but I’m convinced there’s a dll somewhere hidden that has been replaced.November 5, 2002 at 12:21 am #99784MDK

This doesn’t work on Windows Messenger on my machine. Believe me I’ve tried everything… BUT, I got word from Mickeysoft that Windows Messenger doesn’t have tabs! Now why they would build two completely different Messenger apps is beyond me.
I know, however, that there are machines in this office running XP and Windows Messenger and they have tabs! In fact, my home machine is running the same configuration as this machine and IT HAS TABS! So I sent a screen print to Mickeysoft. I haven’t heard back and don’t expect to.
I’ve given up on this issue and downloaded MSN Messenger 5.0. It doesn’t have the remote capabilities but I like it much better anyway. Besides, I found out that you can run MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger simultaneously. Go figure.

The earlier app is doomed for maybe not complying to dot net or whatever, in any case… “The user will learn to accept our way, we are the leaders” -
