June 15, 2004 at 1:59 pm #77797f0rbezMemberWorks fine. Can you browse other sites? It sounds like maybe your browser is configured wrong.
June 15, 2004 at 2:08 pm #77799camsterMemberno, I can still go to other sites. and I looked at my internet settings and theres nothing on my block list
June 15, 2004 at 2:13 pm #77796TigerbladeParticipantits not just him… I cant get to it either, but I did get to it about a half hour ago…. so I think its just temporary downtime
EDIT… thirty seconds after posting, I tried again and BAM its back
June 15, 2004 at 2:23 pm #77798stephesmybabyMemberIt sounds like spyware, you might want to search your system with Ad-aware just to be safe.
June 15, 2004 at 2:29 pm #77800camsterMemberit works for me now too. strange that it would happen to google though. google being down is like the end of the world for some people
June 15, 2004 at 10:17 pm #77795CharlesMemberPllllease….Google wasn’t down today. Not only was my G-Mail opened all day while I was at the computer (all day), Google hasn’t been down in years. Can anybody remember the last time it was down? Think of how many people visit that site, the UNIX servers can handle themselves. I am sure if one failed, that another would repalce its task.
Because it comes up with a search assistant, you a probably infected with spyware that has modified your HOSTS file to make it look like Google has disappeared.
June 15, 2004 at 10:59 pm #77801camsterMembermaybe…but it happened to another person at the same time too. and then it came back at the same time. seems a little strange
June 15, 2004 at 11:28 pm #77793Jeff HesterKeymasterI’m sure it is adware. Google can never be down, because it is not some site that is operated by few people at “a” place. If this much explanation does not motivate you to download ad-aware and scan your machine then here is more motivation: these kind of adware/spywares may also monitor your browser input fields (where you enter something, including password fields) and can steal your information

i spend $2.99 a month for mcafee, and I scan my computer for adware every day as I do viruses and spyware. I also update my mcafee every time I can which is usually a couple times a week.
June 16, 2004 at 12:01 am #77794detn8rParticipant**** happens. I once had all of my internet browsers lock out Google until I rebooted. It was odd, but it was fixed. Need this discussion go on further?
