I have always used AIM…but alot of my friends don’t have AIM so I started using Windows Messanger (Live)…I can get all my friends no matter what they use..but I want to know which is the best…for my computer…not slowing it down…getting things attached to it…etc…any inputs would be helpful. Thank so much;)

I like Trillian Astra (but the WLM file transfers are very slow). Astra runs at about 11,000K on my machine. Digsby is also a good alternative, and I believe they have made significant memory improvements in recent months from what I’ve read. Take a look at the interoperability matrix to see some other choices.
You’ll do better with one multi-client running than several stand alone programs.

However, if you want a hosted instant messenger, I’d recommend the IM client that I freelance for– Brosix. You can download the free version at Brosix PUBLIC Instant Messenger

July 27, 2009 at 4:38 pm #175362DoeZMemberWhat exactly is the difference between hosted and mulit-client messanging? Which one doesn’t take up much space or slow my system down? I’m not familiar with any of these so sorry for being dumb dumb like:o
July 28, 2009 at 4:25 pm #175363DoeZMemberI still don’t know the difference between hosted & multi client messanging…But I also need to know if I can just or how I can move all my contacts over to the one I decide to go with…Thanks again for input;)

You are simply accessing your contact lists on the other networks – not moving them to another place. So even if you like the idea, but Digsby just isn’t the right fit – you can still try other programs.
July 29, 2009 at 11:28 am #175364DoeZMemberSo how do I get all my contacts from my AIM to this Disgby? I think I’d like to try it just want to spend 10 hours transferring all my contacts…lol
July 29, 2009 at 12:47 pm #175368Doris KenneyParticipantWhen you download and install Digsby you will be able to set up to login to your various instant messaging accounts. Your contacts will be pulled in automatically for you.
Take a look at the “Getting Started Guide” on the Digsby website. I think you’ll find the answers you need in there.

BigAnt Messenger is great for corporate communication.:cool:August 9, 2012 at 11:28 am #175372imported_jeniffermabenMemberType of Instant Messengers are depends on your requirements. If you are using IM for chit chat with friends, you can use any of Gtalk, Yahoo, Live, AOL, Skye etc. If you are using instant messenger for business purpose, I don’t think about free hosted public instant messenger. Many companies are using CD Messenger for internal office communication. CD Messenger is fast, secure, SSL encrypted instant messenger for business/corporate.
