Last weekend I had my first hands-on experience with an iPad, and now I’m seriously thinking about taking the plunge and getting an iPad.
Of course, once you make that decision to buy, there are two more decision:
1. Wifi only or wifi+3g?
2. 16, 32 or 64 GB?
At the moment, I’m leaning towards wifi only, mainly because I’m a cheap bastard. I already have an iPhone 4 with unlimited data for when I just have to be connected. It seems like most places that I would lug my iPad to would have a wifi hotspot (Starbucks, home, friend’s house). The wildcard here is work, where we do not have wifi (oh, the horror). Maybe I can jerry-rig something to do a peer-to-peer connection share via wifi to my work computer, then from the work computer to the internet? Thoughts?
As for the storage size, the cheap bastard in me says “go for the 16 GB” but experience has told me I may regret that sooner than I realize. I know this primarily comes down to how much stuff you stuff on there. I don’t envision using the iPad for my music (my iPhone does that nicely) but I could see storing movies or tv shows on there, especially when travelling.
I can’t imagine needed more than 16 GB for apps, but then again, maybe I’d be smart to spend a few bucks now and be a little more future-proof.
Thoughts on that point?

Not to mention, you can activate or deactivate the data plan based on when you need it like if you are traveling. At least you’ll have the option.
I like having 64gb of storage but 32 would really probably suffice. You’ll probably regret it if you only get 16.

Supposedly you can share any internet connection using your laptop’s Wi-Fi card. I’m not sure if it will work or not but it would be worth a try.
You could test it easily enough with an iPhone. If it works for that then it should work fine for an iPad. (As an aside – if you try it on an iPhone I’d be interested to hear the results.)

This looks promising! I’m going to check it out — I just so happen to have a laptop with WIndows 7. I will let you know how it goes!
