I just happened to see an AIM poll about what version they use, so it got me wondering what versions people are using for Yahoo! or if they even use the Yahoo! client at all to connect to Yahoo!.
I know some are still using some very old versions, so i’ll try to give as many options as i can think of!
So tell us, which version are you currently running!
I’m on the 8,1,0,195, since i always try to have the newest version out (whether it be beta or not).

November 12, 2006 at 6:11 am #153684NessaParticipantJust thought i’d add in a quick note, for those of you who don’t know how to find what version of messenger you are running: On the main screen click on Help>About Yahoo! Messenger … Then a pop up appears and the number that appears next to Yahoo! Messenger in parenthesis is your version number.
Hope this helps anyone who was unsure where to look.

December 9, 2006 at 5:31 pm #153685Mac_BlueMember8.0.0.716 is the one I’m using. I like this one because I have friends on WLM I can now talk to..
Is it worth updating to 8.1? If so, why?
December 9, 2006 at 7:53 pm #153680Jeff HesterKeymasterYahoo claims its more stable they also updated a lot of the files includeing webcam, proxy and other files.
January 18, 2007 at 11:12 pm #153689g88keeperMemberi use 5.6 v1358 even though it no longer supports certain features such as file transfer
it is small, and does what i want it to do, and i can still get into chat rooms and use the webcam
and there are no nasty browser take-overs or terminate, stay-resident features
why did they have to turn it into the great bloated heap of nonsense it is today? 5.6 v1358 was perfectly good, and to avoid getting booted, you just replace the filter1.txt and set the filter to High, LOL
oh, and rename yupdater.exe to avoid seeing the nag-screen – mine is called yobdata LOL -
