KeymasterI’ve been a member if Geocities for awhile, and I’ve never had many problems accessing them from anywhere else. Is it only certain pages you’re having trouble with or all of Geocities?
There’s only one recent incident I can think of where I’ve had a problem linking to Geocities, and it was here in this forum. I posted a photo link in my forum profile that goes to an image file called me.jpg and it didn’t work, so Shifter told me to rename the file to me.txt and now it’s working.
I’ve posted my home page link in forums, guestbooks, etc and never had any problems with them not working. So I wonder if this is a new thing Geocities is doing.

Memberive had this problem recently.
you have spyware and/or a recent browser hijack.to fix it, you got to go into your hosts file. on windows this is usually system32 or some folder with system..
on NT
C: > WINNT > system32 > drivers > etc > double click “hosts” and opn it in notepad.do you see the ip? it looks something similar to this: 123.45.678
if there’s anything other than 127.0.0.1 you definately have had a browser hijack or some sort of spyware modify this file.
look for the 123.45.678 geocities.com and 123.45.678 http://www.geocities.com and delete the entire line, this should restore your access to geocities and getting rid of the white pages. also change all ip entries to 127.0.0.1. that is your localhost (the computer you’re on) so it will block access to the sites you request it to.for mroe information on attacks like this, check out http://boards.cexx.org there’s always similar problems being solved.
for more information on your hosts file, what it is and why its there… check out this page: http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/
