MemberHave you tried using the “Forgot Password” thing? If you put in your username, it should send your password to you via email.

MemberBe sure to change your email password ASAP. Grab the password if you can, and then when you sign back on to AIM, change the email address in My AIM> Edit Options>Update email address. Change it to something bogus/fake (my favorite is 1@2.net for anything spam/annoying registration stuff), and then AOL/AIM will email your original email account asking if you authorize this, then make sure to cancel it, following their instructions. Check your bulk/spam folder for the email, or turn off your filters before doing the email change…you need to make sure you receive that email. Doing this should reset any previous requests to change the email address to whatever the person tried to change it to. The process takes 1+ days to accomplish, so do it ASAP!
If you’re concerned with changing it to a bogus address, and then actually not being able to get it back, you’re welcome to me as a failsafe for the email change. As a long time member of the AIM community (search jon8rfc on google), you have my word that I will not do anything to harm/steal your account. If you don’t trust me, you could try emailing one of the AIM programers that writes a blog, and ask if they could be your failsafe.

MemberFor the most part, you’re SOL 🙁 They don’t offer any support to users for this type of thing. If you know an AIM admin, you might be able to get it back, but they’re far and few and don’t really do favors.

MemberThis is a new exploit out folks… Apparently you can generate the same link from a “Forgot my password” email, which allows you to go on and reset anyone’s password who has this feature enabled… REAL great security. Jon… no idea how the hell to deal with this. I want to speak to an AIM developer…

MemberYou probably can’t get it back unless you run into someone with a current email reset exploit, but they don’t usually speak up so nobody really knows who can help them out since the “helpers” keep to themselves. You’re SOL, sorry 🙁
