MemberYes, I have been having the same problem while trying to make a new yahoo ID or email. edit.yahoo.com won’t load at all. Can you explain in detail how to fix this problem?

MemberI dont know what the problem is, I have been trying for 3 or 4 days and I still get that page unavailable. I cant change my password on my other account either and I cant even view my own profile to edit or make changes by going to the Login menu and clicking on ‘MyProfile’ but I can view other contacts profiles by in my buddy list by right clicking on there yahoo ID and selecting ‘View Profile’. But anything else I try to do even trying to get a new yahoo Id, it wont let you connect to yahoo servers to do so, I keep getting that page unavailable. So, Im thinking that some of Yahoo servers must be down or something. Does anyone else have a problem or know whats wrong?

KeymasterYahoo! has protection setup to protect from automated activities. Legitimate users can be effected by this if they are using proxies also being used by known bots.
Change the proxy server your web browser is using.
Using Internet Explorer:

ParticipantI have been trying to make a new YahooID and I have the same problem… but I don’t know how to change my proxy (like what to put in the Port field and all that) and I was wandering if someone could help.

KeymasterYeah, put a proxy in the HTTP box. The port is dependant of the proxy you’re using. For HTTP, the port is typically 80 or 8080; good luck.
You’ll find lots of open proxy server lists if you use Google.
Does your ISP have a cache farm proxy? If so, use that before using open proxies. Ask your ISP if you don’t know if they have a cache proxy.
Does your browser already have a proxy in the HTTP box?

MemberI have been having the same trouble, just recently. However, I don’t know what the heck to enter in the Broadband settings. Do I choose Automatically detect settings? or use automatic configuration script? Also, under proxy server do I check off use a proxy server for this connection. If so, what do I type in the address? Any proxy that is available that I find on the net with the coordinating port, for instance 80.

MemberI thought I’d update everyone. After talking to my ISP provider(Roadrunner) at length yesterday troubleshooting the reason I could not access some of yahoo pages and kept getting a page unavailable error. They said that I must have some sort of spyware or something on my computer that was preventing me from accessing those pages and using that PerfectNav page unavailable. So I run my Spybot S&D and Ad-aware programs and elimated all spyware that these programs found, then I went back to see if I could access the yahoo pages and I still got the PerfectNav page unavailable. So I started researching how to remove PerfectNav and went to this site http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/perfectnav/index.phtml and downloaded the vendor removal tool and run it, plus I also checked to see if any of those registry entries were in my registry, which none were. But there is a link under the section ‘Directions’ for Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner which is freeware. I ran the free scan and it decteced PerfectNav on my pc. I didnt purchace the product but after the scan, I double clicked PerfectNav in the listing and it showed me the registry keys where it was located and I changed the value to allow browser help from yes to no. Now I dont know and I’m not saying if that was what was causing my problem or not, but this morning I tried access the yahoo pages that I havent been able to access for a week now and I report that I was able to get to them successfully. I posted that link in this reply, I’m not sure if that is allowed or not, if not then please forgive me:) Anyway I hope this helps some of you.

Participantwell just tried to get to some unavailable yahoo pages and it worked without doing all that, I think someone told Yahoo and they fixed the problem themselves.
