Why can’t we give negative reputation?
December 3, 2007 at 5:43 pm #165535StigmataMemberNot sure of the official stance, but the way I see it is “if you have nothing good to say, don’t say it at all”
If someone is doing something wrong, you can always report them to a member of staff 🙂

December 3, 2007 at 11:18 pm #165536StigmataMemberabove every post there is this icon
That can be clicked so a staff member can review the post 🙂

Agreed, Stiggy. There is also the possibility of abuse if negative rep were possible (leading to flaming, etc etc). So if you feel that a member is doing something wrong, just report it to one of the staff, you don’t have to report it to Jeff unless you deem it necessary…

Is this not true? For example, poor writing and incorrect information do not meet any of these criteria.

December 4, 2007 at 4:24 am #165539VvWolverinevVParticipantPhilip, what action would you take in those instances (poor writing or incorrect information)?
December 4, 2007 at 4:35 am #165534AwesomeSauceParticipantAny incorrect information could simply be pointed out afterwards, no?

This is better than posting it in the forums (it’s embarrassing and again might lead to flaming and all that bad stuff).
December 4, 2007 at 5:31 am #165540VvWolverinevVParticipantThat’s my point, though. Anything that could be achieved through a PM from the staff could also be achieved through assigning negative rep with a comment. It even avoids flaming since it is anonymous. Beyond that, if a lot of people assign negative rep to the same person it can be useful to forum viewers by alerting them to take that person’s posts a little less seriously.
December 4, 2007 at 5:38 am #165544PhilipModeratorJeff, any comments on this?
