Why does AIM keep crashing?

I downloaded the new 5.5 version yesterdaywhich I like, but everytime I put up an away message and come back a few minutes later, AIM has shut down and I have to sign in again. It’s really annoying because I want to be able to keep an away message. I tried looking in the FAQs but none of the questions seemed to relate exactly to my problem. Someone told me it was a preference setting, but I looked and I don’t know what it could be. Please help!!!

no, I didn’t change anything. I just installed it normally.

I just got rid of 5.5 and reinstalled 5.2. It’s not worth having the new features if you can’t stay connected. Do you have XP? Cause I have XP Home Edition and I thought that might have something to do with it. I don’t know. Anyway, I’m just going to keep the old version until we learn what the problem is.
