MemberWhy did my Yahoo! profile got reset to empty? Everytime, I go and view a member profile, it’s empty. I also, noticed that members.yahoo.com, links me to my empty profile. I really didn’t have much on my profile. I just had a picture. Why were their changes made?

MemberThat’s because Yahoo has changed the Yahoo profiles.

MemberYahoo changed the profile to create a social network. Many things will be connected to this profile in the future. For safety, yahoo set everyone’s profile to private, you need to go in and make it public. The instructions for doing that are in this forum, on the links venom posted.

KeymasterYou won’t have to worry about safety in profiles if you are smart enough not to post certain personal info on the net and one smart thing to do is only choose your first and middle name in your email display name instead of your last name. I went back and changed my last name into my middle name. Also, don’t post addresses or phone numbers, etc. Give that info out like that and who knows what trouble you could encounter if someone, or many people, have those details and causes you problems, gives your number to telemarketers, and who knows what else. Also, be sure you can definitely trust someone before giving that info out (aka know them in person). Of course I have read about an advanced caller id device that can block any number you choose to enter in and stop the phone from even ringing if that number is blocked and it tries to call you (like blocking an email address). Farely new technology.
