Apparently there have been problems with the controllers flying off the wrists of gamers and causing major damage to expensive electronics and various other household objects. I just saw a video on CNN about it, and there is even a whole website about it.
So, if you’re gonna do the Wii thing . . . use caution, and keep your controller under control!

they had to have seen this coming, since the new straps were already in production when the Wii came out.

Some folks really get into it! I’m glad they’re sending out a fix – hopefully it will be free and not something additional to buy.

December 9, 2006 at 7:49 pm #155170AwesomeSauceParticipantWhat’s stupid is that most Wii games really don’t require you to move the controller that hard. If you throw it hard enough to break the strap and damage something, then you’re using too much force.
As a sidenote: I, a Nintendo fan, still do not have a Wii. Which is really sad. Even when Nintendo is shipping over 4 million, they’re still selling out everywhere before I can get to one! What am I to do? 🙁

That’s cool that it’s free, obviously, but I already have the cash and money is not a problem. My only dilemma is actually trying to find one at the store, any store – like I said before, I can never find a place that has them in stock.

We’ve been searching since they came out to no avail. And we’re not going to stand in line all night for the thing. They will probably be plentiful somewhere around the end of January. 😉
December 11, 2006 at 3:35 am #155174MrOatsMemberWell, you could try eBay, but from what I’ve seen, people are paying up to $500 for it right now. If you wait ’till after Christmas, the demand will most likely be less hectic and you could probably get one at regular retail (or less, it’s eBay!) -Other than that… *Shrug* =/ (Sweepstakes?) 😉
