So…I was trying to getr rid of all the adware, spyware on my computer: first with spy-bot, then with ad-aware. well, after I did the spy-bot search, I get an error message saying “error loading C:Program FIlesWildTangentAppsCDAcdaEngine0400.dll” every time I start windows (XP home). so, I searched google, and I found many people with the same problem. but, not too many people with an effective answer. I searched these forums and didnt find anything either. so, I reinstalled AIM so I could have Wild Tangent back. that way, I would have that file back, and I can uninstall it from add-remove programs without a problem. but, I reinstalled AIM, but when I went into the wild tangent directory, the file I had originally been missing, (C:Program FIlesWildTangentAppsCDAcdaEngine0400.dll) still wasnt there. instead, there was no folders beyond Apps. So I still dont have that file, any suggestions?

July 15, 2004 at 6:20 pm #76049shifterMemberIt sounds to me like he’s already solved his problem Forbez. Is that correct Camster?
July 15, 2004 at 9:01 pm #76052f0rbezMemberOh sorry, I only skimmed the post quickly because I was in a hurry.
July 15, 2004 at 11:44 pm #76050TigerbladeParticipantsounds to me like he didnt actually fix his problem… he “restored everything that was in spy-bot and ad-aware, and the files are back, along with the startup message” which to me means that he put back all the stuff those programs removed, and the message is still coming up. that’s a problem. camster – try this: go to Start>Run and type msconfig. that’ll bring up the system configuration utility. go to the startup tab and tell me what you see listed there, especially anything relating to wildtangent or any other spy/adware you might see
unless you really did fix the problem already, in which case disregard this post
