So as of a couple days ago my computer was running fine and super fast(and still is) but now, all of a sudden it freezes after awhile(usually about 2 hours into using it). I’ve ran every spyware/ad-ware even my virus scan multiple times & nothing comes up. I don’t know what the deal is. I’ve even done a system restore up to like 3-4 days ago when I know it wasn’t doing it. I know it’s not overheating because I went yesterday and cracked open my case and cleaned out all the vents and fans & what not. It’s not that big of a deal because it only takes like 30 seconds to reboot, but it’s getting very annoying. If anyone could help with this, thanks in advance.
If you need to know some of my specs here they are….
Dell Inspiron 537
windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
2GB RAM
Have you looked in Task Manager to see if you can find what is locking you up and/or eating up all your resources? Pop the task manager open after being on the machine for a little while and have it docked to the side where you can keep an eye on it. You should be able to see the numbers climbing prior to actually having the machine freeze.
You might also want to check your system event logs to see if there is a clue in there. The logs can often be a great source of information, and in some cases, can pinpoint the program or process causing the issue.
Have you installed all your Windows updates? Both critical and optional updates have the potential to affect performance.
Also have you installed any new programs or software in the past few days? Check your updates too (Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates) Very often an update (Microsoft or non-Microsoft) could be the cause of your problem.
I suspect bad memory. Does 2hrs into your session happen to be when you are also under the highest memory load?
