Im trying to run a file from the DOS prompt on windows xp home edition, I want to get to C:Program Files, but when I type “cd Program files” when I am already in C, it just says that there are too many paramiters. Is there any way to acces this directory, or any other directory with a space in its name with DOS? Thanks.
Try typing “cd Progra~1” Just take the first six characters of any folder and add ~1 and your set 🙂
typing this will also work
cd “Program Files”
the reason is because you have the space in there, it thinks the “Files” is a second paramiter.
An easier way would be to type in:
cd Pro
then press the Tab key, and it will fill in the rest of “Program Files” for you (since that folder exists)
