Beta 2 is the latest version of WLM8.5. There’s not much difference from Beta 1, aside from the fact that it’s available in 35 languages, compared to 6 for Beta 1. You can download it from the official site here. NOTE: this is a Windows Live Installer, not a self-executing .exe file. I’d personally uncheck every box if all you want is WLM itself.
Be aware that this is still a beta, so if you’re happy with your present build of WLM there’s no urgent need to upgrade yet.
Thanks for the post, Philip. Is there anything else new aside from the added language support?
No significant changes in this Beta 2 version, Jeff. Just a slightly darker default header color and when you click Help > About Messenger it displays Version 2008 instead of 8.5.
How can we go back a version on Windows Vista please? I can only see a short list of my friends in the groups.
I’m not sure what you mean when you say you can only see a short list of your friends in the groups. If you could kindly clarify, I’ll try to help you out.
Previously in one of my created groups I had close to 160 people in this list. Now I look at it and it contains only 50 members.
This could be due to a corrupted contact list at the WLM server end, which has nothing to do with your computer. Or unless a lot of your contacts have deleted or blocked you.
It could be possible… However, I think you are right. If the contact list is corrupt on the server, is there anyway I can fix this?
I don’t think so, unless you’ve saved your contact list beforehand. In WLM8.1 and above, go to File > Contacts > Save instant messaging contacts.
cool stuff
