So I just got a Thinkpad T61, and it was working fine. I installed AIM, Skype, and then went to download Windows Live Messenger.
And I’ve been struggling to install it for hours every since. It goes through the “checking your computer for Windows Live programs” for a few seconds (the green bar doesn’t fill all the way…is that natural?) – and then it starts to install the Messenger. It usually gets to around 9% and then it just says “X Not installed” and goes to the Sign-in Assistant which then also fails to install. It then says “Sorry, we couldn’t install these programs.”
This is VERY frustrating and I’ve been trying to get this on my comp all day. And I must have it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if I was using Wireless, would that affect it?
Ther rest are fine…

I’d highly recommend having all the latest updates, not just for installing WLM but also for the security of your computer.
As for wireless, I seriously doubt that’s the problem, as long as you were able to download and install other programs (as you said you were) and you’ve no trouble with internet access, then it isn’t likely this is the issue.

Here’s a quick way to check what version of XP you have. Go to Start > Run. In the box that appears, type winver and hit Enter.
