Windows Longhorn Build 4029 was leaked on the net by the gang over at #betas on IRC… you can get the webshots of the OS at the following location

the version looks really cool with a really sexy interface… check out the pics… really 😎 🙂September 21, 2003 at 4:56 pm #90253CharlesMemberWow…Microsoft appears to have only made visual improvements. I don’t like the tool bar at the right…it clutters my desktop. From the visuals, it looks like an MSN 8 skin on a hacked version of Windows XP that changes the name to Longhorn. So far, it isn’t worth anything. Some major differences from the pictures is that Windows takes a more organized approach that Linux used when partitioning the drive(s). If Longhorn forced that at install, that would be impressive on Microsoft’s part. Other than that, all I can see are visual enhancements for the worse. Something typical from Microsoft these days, I wonder if networking is different. That was the only thing that improved from W2K to WXP. Well, we will wait to see what it has to offer, btw, the interface is NOT sexy. It is cluttered and out of porportion…that isn’t sexy by my standards.

I can’t see Microsoft putting out any OS that is truelly stable. This is why people turn to Unix/Linux for stability, and uptime.
As far as looks, that’s probably the only thing microsoft has going for them. However if the makers of Linux make their system a little more “Novice friendly”, X Windows will give microsoft a run for their money.
