November 23, 2004 at 10:37 pm #105792neo_ny_23Memberhi,
lets start with a virus/spyware scan. He can update his AV, or download Lavasoft Adware from hereI wuld also recommend him to install webroot spysweeper, the free trial stuff, which he can install from here
If that still doesnt work, then I wuld like to see the complete list of all the processes running on his computer which he can get by right clicking on taskbar then Task Manager> Processes.
Hope that helps.November 23, 2004 at 11:52 pm #105791MartinBradleyMemberI’d also do a full system virus scan, and then defragment your hard drive. From what i’ve read on various articles about SP2, it is recommended to defrag after installing it.
November 24, 2004 at 1:32 am #105793TropicalMemberHis computer is overheating. I just had this problem. My computer would shut off at random times. I would turn on my computer, sometimes it would stay on for hours, sometimes for minutes or seconds. I brought it in the computer shop and the guy had it on one of his shelves (in an open and cooled area) and he had it on for 5 days. He called us and said It was probably overheating. I bought a cooling fan for my computer case and it hasn’t shut down since.
