Well, maybe I’m in the minority, but I hate the XP look…I think the longhorn look is sweet though.
Heres my desktop Screen res. @ 1024×768:

Like it? It’s fully Longhornized, boot and logon screen too. I got it from Windows X.
If your going to try this, make sure you have your WindowsXP CD and serial # in case the install fails and your computer is left unbootable. With the CD you can boot into it and repair Windows (No data lost). This will only happen if it does/does ‘nt detect SP1 on your computer (that’s the only problem). If you have SP1 make sure it sees it.
Anyone have any opinions?
August 25, 2003 at 2:22 am #56543TigerbladeParticipantmaybe its just me, but what exactly is so different about this? looks pretty much the same to me, except the taskbar is a little different, and the buttons are a tad off… the icons look the same, etc… i think i’ll pass on it, given your little disclaimer about “in case the install fails and your computer is left unbootable”… sounds like a load of fun, but i think i’m gonna have to say no this time around… but if i ever feel like possibly crashin my computer (ok ok yeah you said “No data lost” but still) i’ll look into it
side note, you might want to consider just linking to the image… after all it is pretty big, and not all of us get to be on a high speed connection (just my opinion)
August 25, 2003 at 2:44 am #56545AtlasParticipantHey, yeah i agree longhorn looks sweet i have the longhorn pro on my machine its a great looking theme, but theres a better program out there to change the themes and it does alot more its called StyleXP its 100% safe and effective soo no worries. You can download it off http://www.ThemeXP.org the site supports it greatly.
Has all kinds of cool wallpapers, log on screens, boot screens, and new themes all which are free. Updated daily always new stuff. 😉August 25, 2003 at 2:53 am #56541DavidParticipantQuote:quote:Originally posted by LivesNaboxHey, yeah i agree longhorn looks sweet i have the longhorn pro on my machine its a great looking theme, but theres a better program out there to change the themes and it does alot more its called StyleXP its 100% safe and effective soo no worries. You can download it off http://www.ThemeXP.org the site supports it greatly.

and on the subject of WinXP… http://TweakXP.com <- loads of great tweaks.
August 25, 2003 at 4:35 am #56544AtlasParticipantStyleXP is just the program its themexp.org that has all the themes etc etc. using that other program is risky and my friend lost half of his HD because of it, how? i’m not quite sure. but most of his XP didnt work ive been using the net sence 98 and i know my way around the block and to use a faulty program as you stated is risky and if the program is risky and can mess up ur OS its not worth having at all.

I doubt it was this program…but it was Operator Error…Something must have happened and he tried to reinstall Windows…and he started to format – then stooped. This program does not change any system files that control how Windows Edita’s / Deletes files.
