All my themes that came with my comp stopped woking all of a sudden except for the default theme. The background shows properly but the toolbars and stuff like that go straight to the windows classic look. (gray)
Here is an example of what the pics look like on load:

Seb – I’m not clear on your situation, do the themes work fine after boot, but fail shortly after and revert to the classic appearance? There are a couple things that can cause that, but before I get into it, lets make sure we are on the same page.

December 18, 2005 at 5:18 pm #134608GoldenKnight8987MemberThat’s kind of what happens in safe mode… it uses the classic taskbar and stuff… from the pictures I noticed that the Color quality was a bit low… I think it does that in safe mode because it doesnt load your video driver.
Perhaps a piece of software changed your screen resolution (which can sometimes alter the Color quality) and the themes prob dont support that low of color quality….
Or, possibly your video driver might need reinstalled… check out the color quality on the settings tab and let me know if you can change it to True Color or Highest or something like that….. 32-bit to be exact. If you dont have the option…. your video card driver probably needs reinstalled.
That’s just an idea that might be worth trying. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
December 18, 2005 at 5:58 pm #134603seb_thib_55MemberNo the reason the pics arn’t clear is because I save the image as a .gif in paint. Sorry I should of made that clear.
I have my settings at 1024×768. Color is at Highest (32 bit)

December 18, 2005 at 6:56 pm #134604seb_thib_55MemberSorry about that David!!!
What I mean, is:
If I have my theme on Default (WIndows Xp)… Then I select a new theme (ex: Blade), I get the wallpaper of the Theme but my toolbar goes to the Windows Classic. All of a sudden my themes don’t load properly. I used them before? Is that more clear?
Sorry about that.December 18, 2005 at 6:59 pm #134599DavidParticipantAh, simple solution then. I’m guessing you used a patched uxtheme.dll? If this is the case, something (windows update probably) has overwritten your patched version with the Microsoft version. With that version of the library, when a theme is non-Microsoft, it will load the Classic theme in XP mode (thus the strange yellow color). All you need to do is redownload and install the patched uxtheme.dll, and you’ll be all set.
If you were using StyleXP or some other skinning program, just uninstall and reinstall it.
December 18, 2005 at 7:02 pm #134605seb_thib_55MemberYes I did use StyleXp but didn’t like it. I only placed 1 theme that I thought I would like then put it back to normal.
So i I reinstall StyleXp then uninstall it, it should go back to normal ur saying or must I keep StyleXp?
December 18, 2005 at 7:23 pm #134606seb_thib_55MemberIT WORKED! David you are #1 🙂 Way to go! I owe u one.
I installed StyleXp (themes once again worked) I then uninstalled it and BINGO its all back to normal!!!! I appreciate it!!!
Is there a way to bring themes from one computer to another??? Because I really like the theme BLADE that came with my laptop and would like to have it on my PC.
December 18, 2005 at 10:47 pm #134600DavidParticipantCheck in c:windowsresourcesthemes. But note that you will need to patch uxtheme.dll or install/uninstall StyleXP on the new computer for that theme to work.
