Ok i been having this problem since last week, i was using and older version of WLM and i didn’t want to update to the new version, but i started having problems with my email, when i log into wlm i see that i have some email so i go to check it out and then when there is no email left to cheack out and i return to wlm it shows me that i still have some unread messages when i actually don’ have and also when i receive a new email wlm doesn’t alert me of the new email so i updated to this version thinking that it will fix the problem but it atually mad it worst, i still have the problem of the email count that it gets stuck in the last # of emails i had when i opend my email account and also when someone get online i don’t hear the alert sound.
i have tried everthing to fix it, from uninstalling the software and then cleaning the registry and downloading it again but i still have the problem, i went to tools and options and alerts to see if they were active and they were and the sounds work in the preview, i been looking over the internet to find a fix of this problem but i haven’t found anuthing to help, so if anyone knows a way to fix this please help me.
Hello and welcome to BBB! I need to clarify a few things.
1. Is the email address you are checking from within WLM a Hotmail address?
2. Are you using any 3rd party programs such as Plus! with your WLM?As for the sounds, have you actually ticked the radio button for the sound you want and have you double checked at the top of the screen to be sure you haven’t checked the box to mute the sounds? Is it just the online sound that doesn’t play or all of the WLM sounds?

i was able to fix the sound problems, for some reason the default sound isn’t working so i tried with another sound and it worked now i just need help with the email alert since i still have trouble with it.1. its a windows live hotmail account the one that im using to log into WLM
2.no im not using any third party software like Messenger Plus.and for the last, yeah it was the first thing that i saw and everything was correct.
what i don’t get is that it was working just fine until last week that i had the problem with the older version and now i still have it, i seen that a lot of people been having trouble with older versions of WLM and haven’t found a fix.
I’d just like to clarify if you are on the new WLM or the old version at the moment.
Email counts in Hotmail may just be a server side issue. Especially if it’s only been going on a week or so you may find it clears up on it’s own.
I found a very lengthy thread in the Microsoft forums about a similar problem just over a year ago, which after several weeks turned out to be a server side issue.
At the bottom there were 2 new posts in the last 2 weeks. So I’m guessing as annoying as it may be, you’ll need to wait it out and hope for the best.
Unless you changed rules on how incoming mail was handled, created custom folders, etc. that didn’t exist prior to the problem, I really do believe you’ll just see it go back to normal one of these days.
