Hi,Anyone has an idea why I can’t press ‘View your profile’ or ‘Edit your name’ in the drop down menu in the main window or why I can’t press ‘Edit settings’ in Options-Privacy-Settings? I use Build 15.4.3508.1109 on Windows 7. Thank you.

You might try running WLM by right-clicking the icon on the desktop and choosing Run as Administrator instead of just launching it by double clicking the icon.
February 20, 2011 at 9:36 am #177285okay27MemberThis has always been the case since I started using the first WLM, thought 2011 would fix that but as mentioned before it didn’t. Never happened on earlier verions though.
Running WLM 2011 as Administrator does not fix the problem.P.S. It keeps telling me the message I’m sending here is too short and needs to be at least 1 character long.

Profile always did that, but now you can’t just change your name to anything random. It will only show what is in your profile. Also, your privacy settings are all in your profile as well, they are not determined in WLM directly.
I haven’t heard of this problem before, so it could be a setting somewhere on your machine or perhaps in your antivirus that is blocking the browser window from opening when you click the link. But the way around it would be to go to login.live.com and make the changes from there.
As for messages being too short to post here – we are aware of that problem and we are trying to get it fixed. I’m glad you were able to work around it!

What happened to being able to see who’s added me to their list, and controling my block list?February 20, 2011 at 5:57 pm #177281Doris KenneyParticipantThey’ve changed how things work in the newest version. You can’t block and unblock people now. But you can right-click them on your contact list and appear offline to the specific contact. The only thing is that the messages sent to you by that contact will still come through – and to respond, you will have to appear online to them.
As for seeing who has you on their list – that feature is not available in WLM directly now. You may be able to use a third party program like Plus! to do it but with the rich features of WLM these days, I don’t bother with third party applications running alongside WLM anymore. You’d have to look at their feature list to see.
The newer thinking is that anyone who is on your contact list is likely a friend. If they are not – well, you have to delete them. Your privacy of what they can and can’t see is controlled from the online options. Be careful if you have other sites like Facebook, etc. joined with your WLM. You need to carefully review what others can see and make sure it’s what you want.
