As reported in mess.be another Beta build of WLM9 has appeared (build 14.0.3921.717) Don’t get too excited, because you won’t be able to download it yet. Some new highlights:
- New look, with colors and headers resembling the new Windows Live header
- New Groups feature
- DP pictures are now displayed on the left-hand side in conversation windows (hopefully Microsoft will give users the choice of making it appear on the right-hand side like v8.5)
- New Photo sharing feature.
Stay tuned for more news as and when it becomes available.
Mess with Windows Live and MSN Messenger: download free msn animated emoticons, names, etc. have now released some leaked screenshots as well as suspected new features 🙂
Is there anything really new in this beta? Something to get excited about? How about posting some screenshots here?

Other than cosmetic things, the only thing I see is renaming groups to categories, and creating a new “group” functionality.

I do agree about the cosmetic changes, and here comes my own two cent’s worth. I’m pretty much happy even with WLM8.5; it does everything I need (I’m basically a typing sort-of-guy, and the Sharing Folders feature is convenient). But like it or not, people will usually be drawn to the latest version when it eventually hits the road.
And knowing the big M, we might be in for another “forced” upgrade. Only time will tell.
