I can’t attest if the lore behind the game will be any good, but you might be interested in Warhammer Online when it comes out this fall, maybe it’ll spark some old interests. ๐
I’ve been itching to get into the beta for the last couple months with no luck thus far.
I mean, on one hand, it can be completely revolutionary, or, it could really be a WoW clone. We’ll see!
In the meantime, I’ve been playing multiplayer Jedi Knight: Outcast and Academy to keep myself away from WoW. Anyone else still play the Jedi Knight FPS games?

Has everyone seen the Simpsons episode? Not quite as good as SP, but entertaining none the less; especially since it’s a mom in the game . . . not many folks my age playing, but everyone who learns *who* I am gets a big kick out of it.

Heh, we actually have a mother-son duo in our guild, mother is in her late 50s, and is actually one of the top-ranking officers… I still get a kick out of it (wish my mom was that cool). ๐

I tried to get my son interested, but he does other things on the computer . . . I’m not sure exactly what it is he does, but he’s too busy to quest with his mom. j/k Ryan ๐
And yes . . . ask anyone . . . I’m a super cool mom.
May 13, 2007 at 7:47 am #160016PhilipModeratorI can attest to that…Heather is a super cool Mom (and No, I’m not her son)
May 13, 2007 at 2:22 pm #160004MrEggsaladParticipantAnd Philip is not my brother.
My mom is pretty rad.
May 15, 2007 at 2:44 am #159996DavidParticipantThere are a lot of people here, mostly Information Technology (cop out major) and Computer Science that play and talk about WoW constantly. It’s a pretty big turn off for a game when the first thoughts are “those people don’t shower and generally do very poorly in all their classes.”
It is a pretty diverse game though, as we can see with Heather. ๐

But I’ve never met someone like me . . . mostly it’s guys, and mostly they’re younger, but mostly it’s just a game.
So go get a shower! The game’s not going anywhere.
May 16, 2007 at 6:05 pm #160012PolarBearNPRParticipantAnd it drifts into real life . . .
I was out getting lunch today; took the day off since I have no voice, (not even a squeak), and I was going into Arby’s to order because they’d never hear me in the drive through. A fella was just in front of me and, being a nice guy, held the door for me so I whispered “Thanks.” Then he held another door for me and I whispered “Heh, thanks again.” So as we’re waiting to order, he leans kinda close and asks why we’re whispering. I whispered that I had lost my voice, allergies or something. He says . . . “Oh – for a minute I thought I was in the World of Warcraft.” This caught me so off guard I just couldn’t help bustin’ out laughing – ok, so no one could really hear because I have no voice – but after I regained composure we got to talking (whispering) about WoW stuff and it certainly passed the time in line. I’m still giggling thinking about it /whisper

May 16, 2007 at 11:26 pm #159998SpikeMemberOh, there’s a WoW thread here? Sweetness.
I have characters on Greymane, Malorne, Uldum, and Eonar. My main is a 30 Night Elf Druid (Hey, I only started a few months ago!) and my alts are basically just so I can get a feel for the different classes.
Before WoW, I would occasionally play Guild Wars (I have a 20 still), but GW doesn’t even come close to what WoW is. It’s very fun, and people are surprisingly friendly. And, like what’s been said before, there is a very very diverse userbase, which makes it even better.

Dude, my first main was 60 in 12 days played time.
I agree with you on Guild Wars though. I’ve had a GW account for two years and haven’t touched it since the original game first came out. The gameplay is too linear, and the backend lore is just boring.
Edit:
A little fun… claiming the draenei starting area in the name of the Horde a couple months ago. ๐
(Obviously, I’m the far right. (I’ve since replaced that staff with the same one Sintheroz & Onstar are using though))May 17, 2007 at 7:34 pm #160013PolarBearNPRParticipantPrince – Hey – I just got my pretty pony. I’ll get a shot soon enough. Have a little patience!
Spike – glad you found the thread! Glad there’s an interest here! Glad you’re enjoying!
Anna – love that shot! See how much fun it is to goof around?!
