Any one play this?
June 20, 2001 at 6:31 am #69622imported_dantheconfusedMemberFirst, I would like to say welcome to the forums and sorry for the lack of posts from us admin. I’ve been kinda busy.
And on to the gaming stuff…
I haven’t played it, but heard some say its good and some say its bad. The rumor I’ve heard is that the developers were forced to release the game early because of pressure from their financial supporters. I also heard that there is a HUGE patch already, somewhere around 50mb or so. What a bummer.
I hope this info helps you.Zephyr
June 20, 2001 at 4:30 pm #69623JoelbieMemberI haven’t ever heard of this game. Is it cool?
June 22, 2001 at 12:05 am #69618virusMemberI have it. It is very very buggy. But it is also very very fun to play…when it works.
June 22, 2001 at 4:08 am #69614Jeff HesterKeymasterIt sounds like its pretty cool. Does in not work often?

BigBlueBall.com ModeratorJune 22, 2001 at 10:54 pm #69619virusMemberThey have some serious issues about server load. Originally the game was to be hoste don one server allowing thousands of people to be in the same world….as they have it now…it is 7 different servers, and still there are conenction problems.
June 23, 2001 at 12:07 am #69621imported_dantheconfusedMemberHow do you communicate within the game? Is there a chat window? I was also wondering if there was some sort of monthly fee like Everquest has.

June 27, 2001 at 12:33 am #69617virusMemberThere is a chat window that shows 4 lines of messages with a scroll. It is bright white, which really screws up your night vision when fighting during the half-hour night period on the servers, which occur every four hours.
It really is preety creepy playing at night especially as an infantryman, hearing rifle cracks and tanks rumbling in the distance.
I hear that roger-wilco, and microsoft’s game voice technologies work within the game allowing for real-time voice interaction between players. I havent tried this so I dont know how it affects lag and what not.
There is a 10 dollar a month charge, that has not been started yet due to the ammount of problems the game is currently having.
All in all, each time I play it, I have a better time, but be warned, the game is an uber-system hog…i reccomend minimum specs be p3 800mhz+ 256 ram and 32meg vid card.
I just got another 256 megs of ram today in the mail yay!
June 27, 2001 at 4:23 am #69620imported_dantheconfusedMemberSounds pretty good…
Another question (hope you don’t mind):
Is there any way of keeping track of friends to play with or would that not work with all the action. Hehe, looks like a pretty fun game, maybe I should consider playing, if I ever get enough money. My vid card sucks 4mb….*sigh*
Thanks for taking the time for answering my questions..Zephyr
June 27, 2001 at 6:53 pm #69616virusMemberShort answer: no.
You can coordinate what server, to play on, and then what mission to spawn from offline, or via phone i guess. ha!
Apparently most people join squads, which play on the same server each night, and keep contact via aim, icq, etc outside the game.
June 27, 2001 at 10:02 pm #69613Jeff HesterKeymasterWhat kind of connection do you need to play? Can you play ok over a modem connection?
Also, you’ve gotta check out the GameVoice technology and let us know how it works! Being able to talk to your team mates would be so cool!

Im not sure too many people play over modem.
Yeah I will have to try that game voice stuff some day, and let you guys know how it goes.
