Would you pay to IM? This could include IM software, an add-on, or premium services like enhanced webcams.
More and more companies are charging for enhanced IM services. Add-ons like DeadAIM and AIMutation. Third-party instant messengers like Trillian Pro. Enhanced services like PalTalk or AIM Expressions. And MSN is planning to provide new “premium” services in MSN Messenger that are only available to subscribers.
So what about you? Would you ever pay? Have you already? How much is too much?
would i pay for Instant messaging? well yes and no. if its a one time pay then yes but to subscribe no. I mean come on, the internet costs anough money than to have really the only thing left to do for free being charged. i enjoy to instant messenging ppl, keeps me connect to ppl without a huge fee like telephone and there more you can do that you couldnt do on the phone. If i had to some it up in one word no i wouldnt pay for instant messenging there anough we have to pay for instant messenging really shouldnt be one of them.
If i put up with ads and some bugs…..i want my free lunch!
[offtopic]Jeff….now im hungery[/offtopic]I’d like it for free. No-way I’ll every pay for IM. I’d rather spend my money on better stuff, but the thing is I would buy one if all my friends do and by the way I voted for “I want my free lunch!” and Jeff, is it ready? I’m hungary. [:P]
i’d think about paying, BUT there’d have to be some conditions.
-it would have to be on a reliable, dedicated server that’s up and running 99.99% of the time (i’m thinkin some cray supercomputers in a climate controlled environment, that sort of thing)
-it would have to have some pretty nifty functions, like DeadAIM on steroids – tabbed windows, optional conversation logs, direct connection and file transfer that WORK, maybe multi-client connection (AIM, MSN, etc), the MSN-style popup alert thing…
-it would still allow the standard features, like away messages and profiles…AND – it also depends on how much it costs
NO WAY its a service and should be free, and besides after pay software is released free versions are allways released elsewhere lol
Well, I might as well invest money into ICQ and MSN Messenger, if they do decide to charge people fees for using their softwares.

will yes it a service and like all service you pay for it
pay? been there done that. never again. trillian “pro” 2 was an irksome waste of time and money. I have zero desire to support a hateful, pollitically “correct” company or it’s buggy products. thank God for miranda!

Getting paid for your work is now “hateful?” I’ve got a job for you! Of course, because I’m not a hateful kinda guy… I won’t be paying you for it. 😉
