MemberYou might have clicked one of the links posted in the chatroom. E.g: Administrators can always see members’ IP addresses on forums.

ParticipantOh, welcome to the wonderful world of Yahoo! Chat idiots, and booters. There are several progs. that scans your IP. To be honest, their probably some punk who thinks he’s god because he can download and use a program to scan IP’s, and fudge up Yahoo and blue screen you. I doubt the guy knows what ‘IP’ even means. Just sit back and laugh. Or if you are however concerned about it, look in BBB’s link directory and download a free Firewall – their always handy 😉

MemberHuh? Nowhere I see you mention that you cannot use your messenger at the moment?
The guy is able to get your IP address; this is nothing to worry about. If you have installed a firewall or if you own a router. most people will not be able to do anything harmful with your IP address.

Memberi already have a firewall on my computer and my messenger still doesnt work. everytime I try to connect it says not connected after a while. this has been going on for days. if anyone else knows how to fix it I would appreciate it. thank you.

ParticipantWhat makes you absolutely sure that the displayed IP address and the fact that your Messenger is not connecting are related?

Memberwell, I guess im not sure but I didnt do anything else that night. after he got my ip I turned my computer off. the next day I tried to get on to mesenger and it doesnt work?

MemberGet used to it; he’s probably just a script kiddie that got your IP using an IP-scan prog. The faulty messenger probably had nothing to do with it. If he wanted to do something to you, he wouldn’t have messed up only one program; try reinstalling it.

Memberi have already uninstalled but when I try to get it again from yahoo it says theres an errror and I get redirected to an older version of the messenger. then when I try to log in it says that version isnt supported anymore
