Memberok me and my friend are using YIM 5.5 (we refuse to use 6 because opf all of the things that are just plain dumb about it)
Sometimes when he uses a smiley it will come out wrong on my end.
Like he will key the “rolling Eyes” smiley and it will show the Clown smiley on my IM window.
What’s wrong? is it my computer or my friends?

MemberYou don’t mention if you did use 6 or not, but here is some info.
Version 6 changed the filenames assigned to about 25% of the smileys, so if you did install, then just went backwards and didn’t uninstall, you may have some smileys in wrong place for 5.5.
Version 6 also lost some codes, for example, in 5.5, you can post 0 in many smileys as well as o, in 6 its only o. They also removed the – from many smileys, like :* for kiss could have been :-* in 5.5

Membermmm im not sure here but i had the porn smilys a bit back and it had a clown smily in there and allso in the smilys that come with the messanger when u download -what set do u have – did u ever download the porn smilys befor ?? and if so did u get rid of them ?? did u try to change it back to the reg set of smilys from a website ?? or did u redownload the messanger ?? if not any of that then i cant help – what i was thinking is that u or someone else may have downloaded the porn smilys and tryed to put it back to the reg ones but some sets give u more or less smilys so the setting on ur and ur friends may be off but 1 smilys or 10 smilys – in the long wrong i would delete all the info and files for the messanger and redownload and see if it works

MemberFirst if you see a smiley wrong its your PC not the person that sent it. Second I think the only real fix is for a complete install. So you will have to use the add/remove a program. Then delete the Yahoo! folder (ussualy its in Program Files). Then restart your pc and redownload messenger.
