Does anybody know if you can have Windows on an xbox 360? Has anybody ever tried? It’s just a random thought that popped in my brain. I don’t HAVE an xbox to try it out on… but they were both made by Microsoft, right?
October 2, 2007 at 1:39 am #164524FanaticMemberNot sure, but it is possible to run apps on your Xbox 360, connecting to an XP workstation (essentially as a dumb terminal) using the Media Extender functionality that is built into the Xbox. Click here for details.

I realize that you don’t necessarily want Linux, but either way, remember: Google is your friend.

I understand what you’re saying though. If the Xbox 360 had an easy way of running Windows, then the console would certainly be more appealing.
October 2, 2007 at 11:35 pm #164525FanaticMemberIsn’t the point of a console is that it’s NOT a computer? It is supposed to be easy — stick a disc in and play without a lot of screwing around.
If you want a computer, why wouldn’t you just use a computer? Are you thinking that the Xbox 360 would be cheaper than a just buying a PC?
October 3, 2007 at 1:07 am #164528MrEggsaladParticipantYou probably technically could install Windows on it, although it’s a console so I’m not really sure the point of that there.

well, I was thinking about getting a twofer. Get a 360, and just install windows on it. *shrug* Looks like that’s not gonna happen though. Thanks for your help.
