I heard through the grapevine yahoo is planning to drop the ability to make www. ID’s on yahoo.. And isn’t planning on telling anyone as it will cause a surge in randoms making those type ID’s.. I wondering if anyone here or knows anything concrete.. Maybe someone’s already heard of this an found it to be rubbish, either way.. I’d like to know 🙂

November 27, 2006 at 3:08 pm #154598DermotParticipantI doubt they will drop support but just stop allowing them to be made.
If yahoo! could just as easily drop support for one type of ID they would have done so years ago.
Does messenger even render id’s and nicks with urls? i don’t think it does but most other clients do…been a while since i checked.
November 27, 2006 at 9:56 pm #154597NettiMemberWhen yahoo gave you the ability to create a dot ID, people came out in droves to create their web site’s id.
i.e. http://www.yahoostuff_com
Only problem is that you are only allowed ONE dot. So anything else will have to be another character.
As time goes on, and we no longer even need to type www in the address bar and we can now just type
yahoostuff.com:)
it wouldn’t really do yahoo any good to just stop the ability to make www names. I know only certain characters can be made after the dot, but you can add a variety of smilies, etc.

I'm thinking if this catches on the rumor will take effect.. On another note, for the last couple months I've been unable to post a link to my blog in chat, I've noticed a couple other sites being 'filtered' 2. You see the link you've posted.. but no1 else does, a way around this(other than url shorteners) is to change the colour of the dots, by making the colour of the dots in my link green, my link becomes visible to everyone, my link as normal is only visible to me 🙁 It seems they are actively blocking some links/sites, and not others..
