Hello!!

I have a question for you, guys.

I have two yahoo aliases and I’ve been adding people to my yahoo messenger.

Is there a way to know with which alias did I add those people to my list? I have a lot of friends in there and right now I cannot remember what alias is the one that they know (in order to send IM’s with the right alias…)

Your message archive feature should tell you who you spoke to under what name. If you don’t have archiving enabled I’m not sure of any other ways to keep track – just edit their contact info in future use to give ya a hint. I tried looking in the ypager.log but that only tracks the main ID.

There is a more easy way to get rid of this problem…i am also using it and I m not having any problem from that moment….the tip is that creat a group in your yahoo list with the name of same aliase for example you have an alies “juanjose1967” make the friends group with the name of “juanjose1967” and add everyone under this group you chat with as “juanjose1967”. This will surely help.

I thought of what raza suggested and that’s what I plan to do. The problem is that I have about 50 people already in my list and I can’t remember under what name they see me.

I noticed this problem when I said hello and I got no answer from some of them…. of course, they didn’t know who I was!!!

Anyway, I’ll just wait until everyone have something to tell me and little by little I will sort them out according to the alias of mine that I see in the IM window…

Well this sounds simple but I have many messengers with many aliases and If I can’t remember who has who I simply ask them, also I do make a group that has my alias name and put them on there. You also might try this put up a sign or status message if you will that says something like view my webcam or smile for me or something when they message you in the PM you will be able to tell what name they have you under .

heyyy!!! that’s a great idea!!!

what I really need is someone to say something to me. I still have friends who are reluctant to say anything unless I go first, but just by inviting them to say or to view my webcam can be a good way in order to find out under what name they see me.

Oh you could put a status message up of ” is this thing working ” implying you are having problems with messenger and then some might even im you back saying ” yes , it is ” but the kicker is they will im under the name they have for you .. So that should help you out.
